Week 39 27/09/17 Mid Week Challenge Course: Dancing Rabbit Back 9

Final week in September and the player of the month will be decided. Tough challenge facing all competitors on narrow fairways lined by woods. the main body of those in line for the title of Players of the month went out early. Dunc, TheZiggy and Chicas were all amongst this early group. It was TheZiggy that lead the way with 23pts but Chicas was soon to fall back. Two players could still overtake Ziggy for the title Texas stuggled on later holes but Dunc managed to keep up the challenge to finally present a final score of 22pts, I point behind Ziggy on the night but enough to preserve his lead with a total of 91 pts in September and a four point cushion over runner up TexasAces on 87 pts and TheZiggy on 85pts

23 players took part in the competition in September our 2nd highest (1st was August with 25) so the number is growing. Duncan finally makes Player of the Month after a number of close calls and he joins 5 others in the final in December. Just 3 vmonths to go and a maximum of 8 could fill the 12 strong Final. The rest would come from the top scorers of the year who have not won a monthly event, below is the top 12 high scorers for the year so far.

Week 40 4/10/17 Mid Week Challenge Course: The 5 Sisters

Often considered a monster and a contraversal course this was our first visit to the 5 Sisters. Not all chose to take part but for those that did found it a rewarding and satisfying experience. Of those that went out in early groups Dunc and Texas returned with 21 pts each. Mark nibnoble emerged in a later group with a criditable 25 points. there were many challengers to the lead From Mimic and Biffa but perhaps the nearest challenge to the top score came from TheZiggy who narrowly missing a couple of vital putts final returned 24pts.

Week 41 11/10/17 Mid Week challenge course: National Golf Links of Amarica

High scoring game which saw many changes at the top of the Leaderboard during the course of the night. Biffa took the early lead by a single point but was overtaken by Bobfletch later on. Dunc and Texas came in with equal leading scores. The eventual winner of the event was Kenny with 24pts.

Week 42 15/10/17 Mid Week Challenge Course: Blackface Mountain back 9

Blackface Mountain a rugged challenging links course, looks a daunting prospect in wind for most but we saw it tamed last night in the Mid Week Challenge. Ergo76prop set out early and set the standard with 24 pts, TheZiggy and Duncanmathieson were close behind with 22pts each. Third group out comprised Kennetharry, Seasider and Shotmaker seas returned 20 and Kenny returned 22pts but could have made much more but for some unlucky misses. but Shotmaker put both to shade by scoring 26pts and it looked all over for the match, until Bobfletch came in with a remarkable 27pts, the highest score so far in the competition. With just 1 week to go it looks like Bobs got it sown up with a 5 pt lead over the rest, but we shall see?

Thanks Gordy - I can safely say that I've never putted so well over 9 holes before!! It was almost as though I couldn't miss - uphill, downhill, right to left, left to right, they were all dropping!! What a shame days like that are very rare!

Week 43 Mid Week Challenge Course: Mount Zanzebar North B9
Last Challenge game for October and another high Scoring game unfolded. 17 players took part including first timer SteadiEddie (wlelcome Eddie to our challenge), out of the 17 players 11 scored 20 or more points. Bobfletch was the player to beat with a 5 point lead as the round began. Bob dropped a point on hole 1 but recovered well with Eagles and birds to make 23 points and names Player of the Month for October. Three players beat Bob on the night on 24 points Texas, Kenny and Seasiders, congratulations to Seasider who finally reached the stop spot with his best score of the year.
