I hope all is well and sorry to hear your not going to play as much. Every video golf game I have ever played has had it's dominate player and you were that player here and no offence to the other great players but you are the best. Only one other player has been as dominate in a video golf game and you know who I am talking about and you were right there with him. Thanks for all you have done and please play tourneys as we all need a Rabbit to chase. Cheers.

Sadly yesterday, one of the reasons for reigning back the amount I play and do here happened.

My Dad at the age of 71 passed away after a 2 year battle with Cancer. None of him knew him I know, but I find typing stuff out helps so bear with me please.

We aren't a family of hugs and big feelings and emotions but I loved my Dad more than my family probably realised. He was a big figure in local football (Soccer) from playing through to management and my brother and I used to go along with him every Saturday and come home tired out. As I got old enough, I sometimes filled in for his teams if short and was even found running the line in a few fixtures!! Then golf became his passion and I played for a few years with him every Saturday at Wareham Golf Club, he was always a shot or 2 better than me both being mid/high teen handicappers but you don't realise until they are gone how great those times were...they just happened.

He was the type of father who wanted his sons to do better than he did and I hope he was proud that we both secured good jobs and gave him and Mum 5 lovely grandchildren between us. This of course led to me being useless at DIY and countless calls to him to fix things which he always did without a grumble. Bit like how he battled the C, Mum said he never moaned even near the end when clearly in agonising pain. We didn't make it to his bedside in time, thankfully the last decline happened quickly, to save more suffering, but probably a relief as when we saw him, he was at peace and pain free....just sleeping.

Life goes on, but as a first time for death up close and personal...just sad for the moment.

Thanks for reading, just good to get feelings out there.

See you on the course.

Andy

Thanks for sharing that. It should be mandatory reading for everyone in the crazy world we are living in today.

The rounds of golf you played with your dad sound absolutely wonderful. May your father rest in peace and may your memories never leave you.

His pain and suffering has stopped but the fond memories you wrote about will never fade. Many of us here are around his age and appreciate the love and respect you had for your Father. Thanks for sharing such a private moment.

Sorry to hear this Andy. May he RIP.

Losing either of your parents is never an easy thing but time does heal all wounds.
