Isn't it enough to just change the description file? All other files should be identical if I'm not wrong. So instead of loading the whole course it should be enough to change just this one file. But really not sure. I think I read something like that somewhere

Yes it is only the .description file that has changed. A lot of players though may not feel comfortable doing that and it's easier to just delete the aforementioned course folder and replace it with the PGLS version.
