Yes, but my take is it's pure luck whether your ball made it through the wall or not. I got lucky and could drop as it was and not receive penalty. Still, one chip went to the hole and rolled all the way back, next one stuck 20cm from hole and I tapped in for a 5. I know there are many that didn't get the same good fortune.

Just a bad pin placement on designer's part, setting the event, you wouldn't know what carnage could be caused by choosing that pin...fortunately it's just a game and not anything that's effects anyone in reality :) .

As the person responsible for the output on a week-to-week basis I must apologize. This is supposed to be fun, and this has been no fun at all.

I will examine how we can do better with the 198 holes of tournament golf we set on a weekly basis, as well as the additional holes we set in other game formats.

It is impossible to check every hole we set in gameplay situation ahead of them being opened for members to play... we would have to compress a week's worth of play into around 6 hours to do, what with the restricted time we have to actually create the events.

Hopefully this experience will help us to improve what we do in future. I hope this has not caused members to lose faith in us completely. If it has done, it is time for a complete overhaul of how we current work on bringing courses to play each week, including assessing the competence of the person responsible for our output.

I will admit, in hindsight, my reaction to it in an earlier post was over the top. For that I apologise, just very frustrating at the time. At the end of the day it's not life or death, it's a bit of entertainment to pass an hour or two.

There is no way Mike and the other Admin's can check such things, with all the set-ups they create for us in their own time. I think they all do a grand job of bringing these events to us week in week out. Please keep up the good work.

Good move to effectively nullify the 71st hole.

I didn't play this Tourney, but did play a practice round using the 4th round conds and realized straight away there would be a problem with the 17th hole and decided not to play. But just for the record i thought i would test this same hole on the other version of Potomac using the same conds. What i discovered was that there is a major difference between the 2 greens. In the "Summer Edition" where that pin is, the green slopes way steeper towards the water than in the "other edition" of Potomac. In the other edition, with a downhill putt 11" directly behind the pin, and deliberately missing the hole with my putt, stopping the swing just past the first dot, the ball stopped before rolling off the green. Also with a 20' putt, 15' downhill, the ball stopped 8' past the hole.

PGLS tournaments are currently the sole reason I continue to play PG. Though frustrating, this is one tiny blip in hundreds of hours of freely provided entertainment. I think the set-up here - tournament provision, support and overall diligence - is superb, and for this I'm very grateful.
