Meet & Greet: Good Practice

The Primary purpose of PGLS Meet & Greet (M&G) is for players to meet and arrange ladder games, Tourney Partners or just a friendly game with another member. The secondary funtion is for players to meet up , have a chat, help new members learn how to get arond PGLS and where possible be prepared when time allows to accept a game with another member.

Where the M&G area fails in these tasks is when members who are logged in and shown as here have in fact left M & G because they have already left to play a game or are doing something else on there PC. Just by clicking onto the X at the top right of the screen and closing down the M & G screen does NOT log you out of the PGLS M & G, you will probably remain logged in for a considerable time after you have left. The only way to ensure you have closed M & G is to click on the Logout button top left of the page next to the Channel drop down Menu.

In the case you want to remain on M & G but will be away for a short time please inform members as to why your not present, you may be reading the forum, or just popped into the kitchen to make a drink or answered the telephone. There is a function at the bottom of the screen with a drop down menu for this purpose labelled Status. It only takes a second to set it to BRB or Busy or Away, please use it. There is another drop down menu (Bottom Right) that you can use if you are in a game and tells visitors what game you are playing, e.i playing a Match 9.

I am putting below a few one line reminders to new members how to properly use M & G these can be copied and pasted in M & G and hopefully if members see them enough they will get into the habit and end bad practace, because there is nothing more frustrating than entering M & G and seeing a list of players all dispaying that they are here when in fact they are not.

There are still some players who are Logging on tp Pgls but are not staying to get a game or have a chat. This is most frustrating for players looking for a game, if your not intending to remain please log out

New Players will be put off when looking for a game from another member when that player continuesly ignores them because he is not there. Please use the Logout button (top left of page) When closing down M&G ...

Please if your not going to be available in Meet & Greet, use the Loggout button top left just above chat messages

Please use the status button (bottom left of page) if you will be away from M & G for a short period of time

Please use the Playing: drop down menu to tell us if you are in a game

When I enter M&G I want to know whose here for a chat, whose playing a game, Whose looking for a game, who's busy and whos away for a short time. If your none of these things then you should have logged out. Please If your not staying log out by using the loggout tab

The only way to successfully leave M&G is to use the logout button top left just above the chat messages, please use this to exit

Despite repeated efforts to encourage members who are logged in and showing here against there name but obviously are doing something somewhere else, nothing is changing .. please iether log out or if you are going to be away for a short time, let it be known. ty

Yes Terry it is tough to get any matches. I believe that one of the reasons for this is that new members come in and see 4 or 5 members who they believe are waiting for a game, only to find after watching and asking how to get a game that none of the players listed are actually in place awaiting a game. They may come in a could of times after this then they give up. It frustrates me and I'm aq long standing member so how much more will it frustrate a new member keen to try a game. Come on guys play the ball, dont let the HERE sign tell lies. Dont log in then go play in TS servers. Dont log in then buzz off for tea. MAKE HERE MEAN HERE OR SAY YOUR AWAY OR LOG OUT

I just wish others would follow suit, maybe a message to all players logging in could be adapted into the logging in method itself to set their status? just an idea but may not be possible?
