Caldera Lakeside for week 4 - great choice

Just wanted to say thanks Mark, love the tough stuff tourney.

Inspired choice this week, didn't know about the course. It winds It's way around a lake that has filled a dormant volcano, and the elevation changes club distances significantly, beware.

In R1 was 4 over early, adapted to the elevation and got back to par by the end, quite the roller-coaster, good stuff:)

lmao...fell into that trap. I forgot all about my Geography A-level days...a Caldera is at the top of a Volcano, so at altitude!!!!! what a dumbasssss I thought as my opening Tee shot sailed beautifully online into the very Caldera on the full! :) I wondered what I had done wrong...no, the club was correct, I hit the ding..oh..enough said, lol.

Same as Vainte, +3 after 2 holes and fought my way back to Par...won't be making the same mistake again!

Pfft  Took me 9 holes of utter bewilderment and this post to figure that out. Thanks Affo. This flatlander has been enlightened.

scoops...when hard greens are set and the approaches are fairly flat, take a club less than you would and let it hit fairway...it then catches green on 2nd bounce and any spin bites and you should just about stay on the green.

hope that helps!

Can't believe I forgot about the altitude again on the first, what a dummy! :( but what a great enjoyable battle those 4 rounds were!!

A great mix of conditions, good use of soft and hard and with the water always in play...keep it coming Les!
