The 'new' PGLS Open - now playing at PGLS assigned level

Hi to all,

We are pleased to announce the second part of our 'refresh' of the PGLS Open is now complete and you will find it no longer is a one-level competition but instead brings the whole membership together playing at the levels which all other tour events and ladder matches are played at.

The assigned level is produced by statistical analysis of each member's play at PGLS to place all players at levels which allow them to be competitive but at the same time does not allow a player to 'sit' on their level when their talents have outgrown the challenge.

Opening tomorrow, the PGLS Open at Westhaven North will be the first event where a truly competitive field will seek to play over four rounds, with the winner coming from a field comprised of all four levels we offer for play at PGLS - from Tour Pro, through Pr and Amateur, to Hacker level. Players will have to be aware of making what is now a more meaningful 'cut' line where those not within the top 75% will unfortunately be booking out of their hotel early!

All the very best of luck to all who compete in what promises to be an exciting event.

Sounds great.... although I am keen to see it in action obviously!

I assume it will be almost identical to the PGA9/18, with us all playing at our 'ability' level (ie mine is Pro). Therefore, those at Pro will have a different winner than those at Tour Pro. We're at that stage though, where, and only take this as me being pedantic, we could see our swing stules. For instance, I'm a Clicker, so seeing those Pro players who only play at that level would be beneficial for me. I'm not seeking to win this event...lol! It's more a case of comparison, as I'm sure we all do that upon LeaderBoards anyway...

Anyway, for now... it's another addition, so I'm extremely pleased, and thank you Mike for the update!

Swing styles are visible on each scorecard, viewable by clicking on the round score you see beside any players name on the leaderboard.

We separate the swings into three simple icons: Click (Which can be with a mouse or controller), Mouse (Motionswing and RTS-Mouse together), and Controller, where the full set of stick and button operations are taking place using the controller.

We will not be making the swing style more overt than this because our aim is to keep as much of a community together rather than fracture it with people starting to say you can't compare apples with oranges.

One thing someone can overlook is that between each round you could change your swing type and if we just took it as a general reading of your first round, it would be inaccurate if someone had decided to click instead after starting with a mouse movement swing, or with a controller swing.
