Ridiculous set ups with no thought

Look, I'm NOT whining. I don't give a shit about my score. I play because I like the game. It has a plethora of faults, but PG is still the best graphics for an online golf game, and it has a swing meter that I can handle occasionally at almost 80 years of age. I read a couple of threads here that were interesting. The one regarding Briong 1 was fun. I think he cheats, and have ZERO proof, but his scores are not logical. He never makes a mistake. I play this game using mathematics, and my experience from playing Microsoft Links in every version, for over 35 years. A 2.18 snap on a calm wind 7 iron shot in this game, playing PRO or TOUR PRO level, will be off line an average of 30 feet, depending on the bounce on the green when it lands. That 35 feet in most instances either causes a long put, or a sand shot, or a penalty. Extrapolate the missed snap on a 230+ yard par three that designers of these courses continue to include in their work. That 2.18 is now 35 yards or more. I have perused many of Briong 1's stats , and the man misses a green more rarely than a albatross on the PGA tour. He is doing something. I don't know, and I don't care. The fact that he doesn't interact with the community is sad. One of the worst things about this game is the inability to watch your opponent set up the shot, and the hit, including the swing meter, all the way until it stops. That's a great way to learn.

I also read the thread The End?, and even if this game continues, there will still be people leaving, Every week, Mark posts declining numbers of tournament participation. He also notes the numbers that play, but don't finish. I would like to express my opinion on why. I will use the Divisions set up for this week (period 5) to make my point. I'm going to try to insert a screen shot of hole 3 at Pasatiempo. In my opinion, this is a horrid set up for this hole, with these conditions. The pin is forward on a green with Hard/Normal, and a ring of rough right where the tee shot has to land (if it was a hard fairway) to bounce on the green and roll to get close to the flag stick. Anything in those conditions hitting that green less than 20 feet away, will run 25 yards. But the person who set it up, uses a course that has rough around the green, so hitting it there is not productive to getting close. Hit it short to the fairway before the rough and hope for a bounce? Hit it long and hope for backspin? (hahahaha) Why set that up, knowing the only persons who are going to reach that green in regulation is a very small sample of the players? Just like in Links, mixed conditions are just that, mixed, both fairways and greens react differently. The fairways are not the same fairways in HARD/HARD, and the greens are not the same as NORMAL/NORMAL. The other thing about course set up that grinds my gears is the dead balls fact that we do not have the clubs needed to play some courses and conditions. I recall a few weeks ago, we had a 576 yard par 4, with a 16 mph wind in our face, along with as much as 60 feet of elevation. There is no way with the clubs we have, to reach that green in 2 shots.

Like JoeMan said in the threads I read, I'm too old to get any better. But there is no point in gimmicking it up every week. The good players will play better. But the players who have trouble finishing because they are so frustrated, like I am, due to the course set ups, will play more.

P.S. the (hahaha) after mentioning backspin. There is no back spin in this game, except very rarely (in to the wind, with the green elevation rising where the ball hits. A PITCHING wedge on a soft green rarely backspins. And when it does, its a complete surprise. The 77Wedge does if you don't use the blue dot, and the wind isn't behind you. Completely random.

I can take it. Flame away.

I have been playing this game for years also and have to Agree with you on some of your points 1.Briong is a cheater even Affo didnt shoot the rounds he does no proof but thats my thought on that 2.I set tourneys on Caddyshack to make them not easy but not frustrating as many of the tournaments are big wind which sometimes affects ball flight playing in the dark is another nonsense setting i see too often i believe we play this game to have fun not get aggravated so why dont people keep that in mind when they set games keep it competitive but not stupid .The beatings will continue until morale improves

There is always luck when playing some of the toughest courses. Like the HIO at Pasatiempo.

Why should a good score in tournaments depend on luck?
