Welcome to the first Perfect Golf Ladder System (PGLS) Club Talk a weekly news round up with the emphasis on club activity’s. I hope to show that PGLS is not just a collection of tournaments that can be played either solo or with other players but a place where players can meet, chat, and compete against each other, where friendships are made and legends are formed.

In a week when Jordan Spieth won the British Open at Royal Birkdale PGLS ran its own British Open over four rounds at Southport Links (designed on the Birkdale course) in their weekly PGA18 Tournament. As well as running the PGA18 tour PGLS runs on weekly basis other various tournaments over 9 holes. This week’s PGA9 used Falcons Meadow course and our weekly 9-hole PGLS Stableford 9 used the Trump National Hudson Valley course. The other highly subscribed PGLS Open a month long four round tour with a cut after 2 rounds, played on the Hazyview course also ended this week. The remarkable thing about all competitions this week is that they were all won by one player Affo (Andy). Affo won the Pga18 (British Open) tourney by 6 strokes clear of his nearest opponent on 244 points, a staggering -36 over the four rounds. His opening round of 57 included 1 eagle and 11 birdies. I had the pleasure of playing alongside Affo this week in a 9-hole game on the tricky St Enodoc course and I clearly saw why he has become so successful at the game, I saw only one poor shot and he strolled to a -4 over the 9 holes win. We are very fortunate at PGLS to not only have affo playing at the club but he is also a part of our back-room team producing all our game statistics that are so vital for our club.

PGLS on a weekly basis runs 8 tournies that can be played by all its members, it also runs many events that can be played collectively by its core membership and it’s this part of the club that I want to spend time on in this News bite. A club like PGLS heavily relies on its active club members to grow and our club has seen a very high growth rate over the last two years and this has been achieved mainly due to club events and a friendly rivalry that exists. Each Week on a Sunday evening we hold a Knock Out competition, this week the K.O was played on Latrobe Country Club in very blustery conditions, it takes a certain type of player to triumph in these types of conditions on that type of course and it was no surprise to see Duncanmathieson and Bobfletch battling it out in the final with Bobfletch winning this week’s K.O (2&1). In this weeks Mid-Week Challenge, we were looking for a player to emerge from a group of 5 to claim the title of player of the Month for July and it was TheZiggy who claimed the title scoring 88 Stableford points over the 4 weeks of July. In our 24-hour Challenge where competitors have the opportunity to play twice over the same 9 holes to produce one result Biffa (Les) triumphed with a best score over 9 holes. In our Pairs Competition, the combination of Ridler/Charlieb lead on 133 with some players not completing all their 4 rounds yet and still to come is our weekly Seasider challenge when each week’s players compete on a different coastal course over 4 holes. All our tournies for the week are now over but they start all over again from tomorrow. Two other important competitions are our Ladder games where players can compete against each other to rise to the top of the ladder. In our PGLS stroke ladder gatekeeper is top with a run of 16 games unbeaten and Top player of PGLS match play Ladder is Carl Lapin.

Behind the scenes Mark (Mwh65) and Mimic (Mike) are busy preparing for our first Presidents cup between an International team vs USA, all details can be found on PGLS site.
Hope you have all enjoyed the first PGLS Club Talk I hope to make this a weekly thing. Please add any news you have to it.

Nice write-up Paul, made even better by my name getting a mention LOL. Well done to Andy, a stellar performance without a doubt!! I used to write tournament reports over at JN6, round by round, and enjoyed doing it immensely. My pen name was Rip Snorter and the reports went down pretty well with the players over there...

Welcome to week two of our round up of the weeks action at PGLS. Pga18 this week came from Doal Blue Monster in florida and as the name suggests water abbounded on most holes, Joe Bradley won the event (-29) with Ergo76prop (-18) in the runner up spot. PGA9 at Orange County was another course with lots of water to cross, the event was won by Step with last weeks winner Affo relegated to 3rd place. Our Stableford 9 coming from Green Cliffs was also won by Step with a total of 91 pts, runner up 2 pots back was Sikkum (89). Biffa took first spot in our Hazard tourney with a grand total of 1,871,500 pts, runner up was The Ziggy. Tuff Stuff this week went to Affro (-4) runner up Step(-3) The Pair up winners for this period were Sikkum and The Ziggy (-15).

It was the first week in August for our Mid Week Challenge coming from the popular Galloway National course and Bobfletch took the honours with 24pts but only just as Biffa return ed a score of 23pts, DCI Jones (Baz) returned to playing this week after a short retirement and came in with a very creditable 22pts. Once again technical issues dominated play after the scoreboard stopped working but all ended well eventually. PGLS Open got underway this week with FI Partisan leading after 2 rounds on -15 followed by Ergo76prop on -1

Thought I'd give a mention to two members who have join us recently and seem to be a good addition to the club. Welcome to Taxxi45 and Skip67 and hope you really do well here. A few new courses were added the week 2 I really like is Trump Ferry Point and DoGgs new creation Ddraig Du (Dragons Margin) Ddraid Du could very well be used in both Mid Week Challenge (b9) and Seasiders Seaside Challenge (F9) so get some practise in. Behind the scenes work carries on with the Presidents Cup in September and Mark is working on changes to M&G. Hope you all do well in the coming week and above all else HAVE FUN.

This weeks PGLS Club Talk is all about the Presidents Cup Tournament. Without a doubt this tournament is the most adventerous event that PGLS has set up. The Presidents cup will run for three weeks and will consist of 9 fourball, 9 foursome and 12 single matches. The two teams involved are an International (Captain Biffa) vs USA (Captain TexasAces).

Each Captain has picked twelve players to represent the team plus subs if needed. It was up to individual players to arrange each game, (not easy when players come from a variety of time zones). The tournament got underway on Saturday 2nd September with a resounding win for the International team, Terbal and Bobfletch winning 5&4. This was followed on the next day by another International team win of 2&1 also by the paiting of Terbal and Bob fletch. The Same Sunday night Duncanmathieson & Seasider47 made it a hattrick of wins with a result of 5 & 4 and it appeared that the International team were running away with it. Each night players gathered in Meet & Greet to follow the matches as they were played out, using Twitch and Steam stream supporters were able to watch the match as it was plated out, thanks to Mimic who transmitted each game into Meet & Greet.

Has the week progressed the USA team turned things around with Wins From Dace/F1partisan 1up, Tresclub/Killershane and a further win by the partnership of Dace/F1partizan. In between The Ziggy/Sikkem and Alteadm/ergy76prop were able to half there match resulting in a 5-4 lead by the International Team. We are now well into the Foursomes and I will report futher next week
