38yd and above splash...joke!!

What is the issue with this type of splash shot, just playing round 1 of PGA 18 i had 41 yds to pin from a bunker and chose the 38yd splash. Now i know this shot is dodgy so i reduced my take back by roughly half and played the shot. The ball pitches well before the pin which is what i wanted, then it just appears to accelerate beyond belief, this really pi**ed me off no end because the ball thundered past the pin, off the green and down into the water for a penalty...so annoying!!! I wondered if i bladed it badly so i set the shot up numerous times in practice on the same course and had the same result everytime, the outcome was not down to anything i had done. I really wish they would fix this, it totally spoils everything good about PG. What should have been a splash out for possible birdie ended in a dropped shot.

Totally agree, I now never splash apart from 60 degree wedge (or whatever the most lofted club is), anything else and the ball acts like how you described is my experience too.
We can hope for PG2 for a fix??
