Some of these are extremely hard for an amateur; I don't understand why when I hit a ball perfectly from the tee, it ends up in the trees, rough, bunker or water? Whats with the swing meter, someone said I need a piece of plastic to check the meter?

The same pin positions and conditions are played by all. If we made it less challenging (and it is after all a challenge which most people look for when playing their golf) then the distances between each level would be even wider than they are.

Lets have a look at what you are doing with your meter to begin with. I assume you 3-click? If so, you may not be aware that the meter is 100% power at the 12 o'clock position, and more beyond that. Going into this 'overpower' portion will gain you additional distance (that most of the players at higher ability levels will not attempt) but a miss, even small, on your 'snap' or 'ding' is going to be punished exponentially.

Many find the best thing to do is to use the practice range facility to understand exactly what various power shots do, and to understand the degree of variance you have playing at your level of play. You should then be bearing this in mind for all your shots, both driving and approaches.

If you are always going into the overswing, you will also find that wedge shots into the green will have greater levels of spin, which can work in some instances, but can cause problems in others. It is all from experience that you will learn the correct club and power to hit. This is not as 'out of the box' as some other golf titles are, and is more along the lines of a simulation.

I have no idea what someone is saying about a piece of plastic.... that may be a thing, or could just as easily be someone pulling the leg of a new player.

plastic???
only thing i can relate that to is before the meter with the dots came out.
people where taking a piece of clear plastic putting it on their screens and going to the range
and putting marks on it to represent the different percentages of the swing. hence the reason the meter with the dots came out
i think they figured we can't stop it may as well give it to em.

Thank you for advice, I don't over hit very often. Obviously must be a old player using the plastic. It's a pity we can't use that stimp meter in game, I have to refer to a photo of it on my phone!

it wont take you long and you will not need to refer to the stemp meter chart
us folks who have been playing this from the start did not have a chart to go by at least i did not use one ,just the figures in my head.
