It seems as if you can set up different players in creating a game/defaults-is that correct and why would you?

You could have different ability levels, or even different club selections. Some may even use it simply to give different selections of clothing without needing to edit before you start and keep others in multiplayer waiting whilst you decide on your wardrobe!

What you cannot do is assign a swing directly to that player. That is done universally across all players you have through the Settings>>Controls menu area.

Yes but would you have different names and thus different scores in the tourneys? I'm currently an amateur but think I should be a hacker, so presumably I could make my 2nd player a hacker and then the same name or different one?

Your entry into PGLS events works from your Steam ID, which will be the same for any player you create.

I have reviewed your playing level now and agree you are struggling at Amateur. You will now be moved to Hacker level. Please change your player level in Perfect Golf accordingly.
