Weekly KO Tourney suggestions

We have seen a sharp fall off in the numbers playing the weekly KO tourney held every Sunday evening at 8pm GMT / BST.

If anyone has any suggestions so we can keep it going please feel free to reply to this topic. I changed the time of the tourney to 7pm for the last KO, to test the waters so to speak but we still only managed 4 players.

I feel the problem arises due to timing. If the K O commences at 8.pm BST with 3 rounds or more it could be very late before the Final gets completed.

A suggested format for a new game to replace the KO on Sunday.

a Four Team tournament, Playing iether Greensome or four Ball Alt Shot. each team comprises of at least 4 players (teams could have more than 4 players in a reserve capacity. Team names decided by the head or captain of the team (i.e Lz giants, Northern Lads etc) Teams can play 1 or 2 games of 9. A win would give 2 points a half 1 point and a loss 0 points. A season to be decided and a league table showing progress of teams.

Another reason i have heard mentioned a few times is the use of the same course/conditions round after round which some have found tiresome. They would prefer different courses and conditions for each round.

Put in a shot clock. Game play in those tourneys is far too slow.

One hacks opinion.

Perc, a shot clock isn't available in the API unfortunately.

I am a fan of the k/o and do not want to see it fade away into oblivion.I think it is a great feature to have as it always has been whilst I have been following Mark in his ventures, I believe we can find a way to make it work for all to enjoy. I have been giving this some thought and think it should be played over a week as there is not enough time in one Evening session. My suggestion is this: Day 1- Sign Up between 10am and 10pm - Make Draw. This gives players the time on both sides of the Globe to make arrangements to play 1st round matches the next day then giving them until the end of the week to complete. My suggestion would be to play it over 6 days then a days rest to start again as we are not sure of the numbers that will be participating, this should be ample imho.

Since the shot clock cannot be used I would suggest a 30-40 minute time limit per 9 hole match. This is more than ample time to finish 9 holes. If not, the winner is the one leading when the designated time is reached.

Scrap KO all together it takes too long.....We need a tourney like MWC or seasiders to finish off the week.....these are well liked and well attended weekly tourneys, all we need is a name...how about "THE SUNDAY SANDBAGGERS"..... ;) maybe to mix things up a bit all players could play at the same level and that could change from week to week(1st week hacker 2nd Pro 3rd Ami ect).....this may encourage players to move upto a more challenging level(hopefully).......and to avoid Stictly come dancing we could play at 9pm bst......a quick 9 holer before MOTD2......sweet

I have two suggestions.

1. An Alt9 league, matches to be played on Sunday evenings. Each pairing plays against all the other pairings both 'home' and 'away', as each pairing would select 3 'home' courses which they would use in turn for their 'home' matches. This would provide a bit of variation for the matches. I thought about using random conditions for all matches but it was suggested to me that this would 'lose' players as some hate playing in strong winds, or using an 8 or 9 stimp, to name but a couple of examples. Some kind of scoring system to be decided upon, but could include bonus points for an eagle for instance, or making a putt in excess of, say, 40 feet.

2. To keep the 'matchplay' theme going, how about a Matchplay league? Again, each participating player would select 3 courses for his or her 'home' matches, and play all the other players both 'home' and 'away'. No bonus points to be had but as far as scoring goes, the heavier the margin of your victory, then the more points you should be allocated for that win.

If either of these cannot be programmed to work in PGLS then I might volunteer to maintain the league tables manually. Oh no, what have I said...

Just my thoughts...
