Is PGLS goin to offer only destructive Golf Settings?

I'm normaly no one who starts a Discussion in a Game, but since Mike left PGLS as Admin i feel there is a big difference to see in the settings between Mikes and the new Admin for the PGLS Tournaments.

First of all i have to ask is there a Proof (about the playability) of the Settings before the Set Up go live? I ask this because the main Intention of every Tournament should be to be challenging, hard and tough but also fair and playable for all from the Beginners to the Tour Pro's.

In the last Weeks i got the personal Feeling that the Set Ups only go the Direction Hard, harder more unplayable. If i look for Example the actual Setting of the Royal Melbourne Tournament. I personal got the Feeling the Admin didn't know what he offer the Community. This Set Ups are totaly unreal and sorry for nobody playable (exept some Specialists who plays every Round with minus 15 and better - no more other comment to this aspect).

My Intention with this Post is only that the Admins make toughts, and tests which setting is playable and tough too on the different Courses. Because every Course has a personal Flair.

I stop now playing the PGLS 18 Tournament for this Week because that has nothing to do with Golf as Golf should be. It's only stupid!

It is a very tricky thing to set events up which are challenging, yet not too challenging.

It is not a 5 minute job, believe me. Overall, I believe the tournament set ups are good. Some weeks, we have easier settings, this week (particularly in PGA 18) we got a much tougher week.

There is a wide range of player skills to cater for and also, what people want from the events. Some just play for fun, others, the competitions are the only things keeping them playing.

PGA 18 this week, I did smirk more than once and wondered if i'd stumbled back into Tuff Stuff, and had the pleasure of 4 shots to get out of a bunker (my fault, trying to be too accurate rather than just get out!), but a challenge it was and just because I shot -12 under and not -40, I had the same enjoyment...it was different!

KUTGW setters, I can understand some may get a little annoyed with some settings, but at least we have setters!

Just to add...sometimes it's not the course you need to worry about, but have a look at players around your skill level and try to beat them, this week, all the scores are higher, but you can still make a fight of it to finish top 10, 20, 50 or one particular person.

Affo, i make on OGT (maybe you remember) as Admin also the European Tour, and my Intention was all Time to give the Community a realistic Set Up. For Example if there is Rain the Stimp couldn't be never higher then 11 and hard because that's against the Nature of the real Physic! And if i wanna play hard and courious i can play on Daves Tour. On the PGLS 18 i like to see the reality of the PGA Tour.

Hi Blaukraut. I have been a tour setter for some time now. When Mike looked after the tours, he picked the courses each week then passed them over to the team of setters to choose conditions and pins, only in the case of illness or holidays did he actually set the courses, I say this to show that nothing as changed since when Mike was here. I now have taken over the picking of courses and setting. I still where possible use Pga9 to mirror the PGA European tour and PGA18 the PGA Tour, Where possible I will choose the courses being used by the tour that week. This is not possible at the moment due to the end of the year and PG not always having the course available. If we use a real course we check local weather conditions to that course that week, some of our players like to play the course then watch it later on TV. Due to PG limitations its not always possible to be accurate with our conditions, Example no firm ground so we use hard, It is very difficult to please all and some weeks we get complaints the courses are too easy then other weeks we get the complain from some that its not realistic, whilst others comment that they enjoyed the extra challenge, All setters try to make it both fun and challenging at the same time but due to the variety of skills thats not always possible. Keep sending your comments in though as it helps if we get feedback

PGA 18 Trapmont Country Club round 1 easy pins.......those are some of the harest easy pin ive seen......almost every hole was very near or on a steep slope......when you say you set the pins do you actually move the hole to where you want it or is that set by the designer?

Wait 'till you get to the par 3 13th in the 2nd round... cut on a 45 deg. slope (or so it seamed).

When I was setting at OGT, we had a picture of each green with all the pin placements on it, to get a rough idea of tucked away pins etc, but to how bad the slopes are, you had to guess. Not sure how it works here as I don't set, but I believe (please correct me if i'm wrong) the designer sets easy/difficult setting etc. It takes a bit of time to set 4 rounds of pins...same for all at least, sounds like Trapmont is something to look forward too :)

I didn't mean it to sound as a complaint - we all play the same pins (?). Seasider47 has my respect for the time he puts in to set-up the Classics.

A question though: If "easy" pins are selected, does everyone play the exact same pin position, or does the game randomly select from the 3 or 4 "easy" pins available?
