noticed pga9 was having lots of little pauses, especially the front 9 both times, very jerky.

Hi cubbies, Andy,

While I didn't see any pauses or jerks at Zanesville (PGA9), I did notice a pause when clicking the meter on the overhead, fairway and greens; I attributed the pause to the course design.

I can chime in with what I was dealing with and the steps I took to fix it. I admit it was a nuclear option seeing I couldn't play at all; the game was jumping all over the place. Hitting the snap was impossible.

My theory was bad drivers or left over drivers and old windows update files.
I did three things but I'm not sure which one fixed the game. The game has been running like silk for 3 or 4 weeks now, load times are faster also.

First, I did a complete fresh windows install, I wanted a clean hard drive. I would recommend doing this last if you want to try the other options first.

Second: After the fresh install and replacing all my programs (two days), I ran the little AI app from ASUS called AI Suite 3 and cleaned all windows update files off and the disk cleaner within the suite. Great program btw.
After that the suite boosted my CPU by 20% and has it's own fan control it sets automatically after you run the program first thing.
You can look for a windows update remover on google if you don't have a ASUS motherboard. I'm not sure it would run on other brands but you could try it.

Third: Also after the fresh install, windows used an older Nvidia driver (388.38) I think it was.
I went to Nvidia Geforce and downloaded the current driver 417.71 to my desktop.
I then went into the Device Manager and removed all display adapters.
Then I ran the CCcleaner Registry tab and removed anything called Nvidia and then installed the Nvidia driver 417.17 in "Safe Mode"

As I said "this was a nuclear option" and while it worked for me I can't guarantee the same for other computers but I would look into old windows update files and start fresh with the install of your video driver, just be sure all notions of Nvidia are deleted before you install the new driver.

Another thought would be googling (Windows Download Folder) Located here C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files
Also google (Windows Software Distribution Folder) Located here C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution

Both places will hold old files not needed, any that are being used won't delete........ google first.
Since my fresh install these folders were emptied and old files could have played a part in this finicky game.

Its allot of work to do them all so try one or two to see what happens and say goodbye to the jitters and jumps.

Good Luck

Wow randy that sounds way beyond my pc comprehension, what would happen is i sabotaged everything and would go game less with no pc. Got to be a less evasive solution, but thank you for an idea, i will continue to explore further options...

:wtf: You mean that isn't normal? I've been playing with those problems since I installed this game a year ago. My meter pauses at least 8 times in 18 holes, and always at the wrong time. That why I suck. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :cheesy:

I hear ya cubbies,
I wish I could pin point the cause. For what ever the reason or by chance my game is nice and fluid now.

the Zanesville course was really fucked up for me, cause it just doesnt load textures really well, lots of delay while doing flybys and clicking with bli. but not as you said on all courses.
