There have been a number of complaints this week regarding PGA 9 course Montclair and the pin on the 17 hole. Where possible I will use the course that is in use by the PGA European tour for PGA 9. That wasn't available this week so chose a course at random. I played round 2 today and saw for myself the problems it posed and am positive that no green keeper would place a pin where that one was. I have to question the reason for the designer of the course for why he decided to put a pin in there in the first place there is very little of chance to stop a rolling ball once started.

I have taken a snap of hole 17 on Montclair with all the pins showing ( click on pic to expand it) there is now way you can get any idea how bad the pin from the way it appears here. Only once your player is in the bunker do you get an idea of the task ahead. Designers do a great job but just now and again do they create a nightmare such as this.

I found tying a piece of string to the ball helped when approaching from front right...nearly missed the 1m putt though which would have led to endless fun as you guys are mentioning.

Whilst I applaud the designers who take the time to create these great courses, I find the greens in general on this course to be a bit severe (not sour grapes for shooting higher than normal, I didn't play the course very well, simple as)? Is this how it is in real life? If so, that's frightening.

Well played those guys who managed to shoot the lower scores.

Really all the greens are pretty crappy. Its not hard to smooth the greens before release. It would take a total of 20 minutes for the designer to do that.

Its a shame because I bet it could be a decent course otherwise.

Have no idea what the problem was, birdied it and eagled it!!! lmao, was very lucky both times. The eagle was travelling and hit the pin square on or it would have been in sand and cricket score ensuing and if I could ever work out how to post a simple shot on here, I would share, lol.

Having played all 4 rounds now, those greens are a bit shocking. If they were smoothed out a bit, not the steps themselves, that could be a very good challenge as some greens have nice areas to hide pins in, you have to attack from the correct side of the fairway to stand any chance of bird. As it stands, the greens make it a bit of a lottery even if decent shots are hit in.

Hope the designer re-visits and just smooth it out a little.

I have decided that for Tier movement purposes and Power ratings, anyone on round 2 17th hole who scored more than 6 will have their score adjusted to 6. Just for those purposes only otherwise there could be some irregularities!

UPDATE - Whole event is now ignored for Tier movements and Power rankings

Well I took 20 (yes 20) on that hole and decided not to continue, lol, very unlike me not to finish, but that was ridiculous.

This Course makes no Sense to use for Tournaments generally till the Designer did fix all this crappy Mistakes.
