PGLS

I've been playing computer golf since the days of Commodor64 and Ateri STE, I think the earliest game I remember was where you played from one island in the middle of an ocean to another similar Island. One day whilst browsing through computer games in a shop I discovered Microsoft Links386. The Disc contained the basic game and around 5 or 6 courses. Once online you could join social clubs that provided weekly competitions, you could also dowload courses designed by the community (any thing sounding familier yet). I played Links through a number of upgrades right up to Links2003, by this time there were over 200 courses to download. I still have 5-6 CDs with 30 courses on each disc. Unfortunately Microsoft sold the game to a company that played around with the speed of the greens and folks started to drift away and eventually the software company stopped upgrading and the game died.

Perfect Golf I have read is based on the Links principle and I can recognised many of the principles of play used in the Links range. I have also recognised many of the people involved with the Links game back working on PG. The game plays very true to the priciples of golf and I believe the courses look better because they are drawn rather than taken from photos. The ability to use h/capps and play stableford games and skins will add to the game once community's and Country Clubs are set up. I'm really exited about the game and in time I think more and more will turn to PG from other Golf simulators. I'm Seasider47 in the game give us a shout and add me to friends list. Well I started playing online golf when I heard about software called About Golf. The number of players in that was incredible and thus AGLS (About Golf Ladder System) was born.

AGLS died a natural death I believe in around 2009 because the game could not be played using a router. You had to use either dial-up or a cable modem which were being phased out in preference for a router.

WGTLS was then born using the WGT game but a combination of greed by the owners and what I believe will be the final nail in the coffin was the recent selling of the WGT software.

Now here we are some 12 years after I started AGLS with my 3rd ladder system PGLS. It has had a rocky start in its first year but I won't give up. Ask Biffa (geordieles) and jollygreen who have been there through all 3 of them

It Was Jollygreen who persuaded me to come over to PG, I had purchased the game soon after its release on beta on steam, tride it but didnt like it and it remained un-used for more than a year. I played Wgt mostly and would often enjoy a round with Jollgreen though we both struggled with many aspects of the game, like timing and super fast greens. I took a lot of convincing to come over to PG. But the game had changed so much during my absence and is far more realistic now. So I'm here to stay only hope we can get more members soon.
