There was a suggestion from another user that it would be better to change the HACKER ranking to BEGINNER which I thought was a good idea and a bit of an encouragement to those just starting out in this great game.

Any thoughts

I'm brand new here. I don't mind playing at Beginner but if we get a handicap playing at Amatuer, I don't really see the point. I am a horrible golfer but then I probably haven't put in the hours that the better players have. Besides, face it, some folks just have better hand to eye coordination.

When a player first joins PGLS they are set at the "Amateur" level. Every month players are checked to see how they are doing and a "Tier Movements" topic is created.

Players who are doing well are moved up a level unless of course they are already a "Tour Pro" player. Players not doing so well have the option to request a move down a level if they want to.

In PG the next level down for an "Amateur" player is "Hacker", not "Beginner" and we have no plans to change this.

Can I make it clear when I mentioned begginer/hacker in an earlier thread it was not a suggestion for the future, I was merely stating it would have been better When the game was introduced by PP that begginer would have been used for starter level than hacker. I use to play golf so know that a begginner is much different to a hacker. A hacker is usually someone who doesnt care for the up keep of course i.e doesn't replace divots. rake bunkers or treat other users of the course with ettiquette. So that does put some off moving down to it, it did me lol.
