Last weeks numbers

11 down in players and 11 down in finishers
I'm starting to think people do not like the new scoring system and have decided to start skipping this tourney, which I to am guilty of.
would like to hear from others concerning this new scoring. and has it made you give it up?
if this tourney was taken out of the group of tourneys which makes up the ranking would you come back to it?
I would come back if it was removed from the group of tourneys that make up the ranking and would also come back if scoring took a little different direction.
now when we had this up about changing the scoring system Alan (riddler) had a great idea of leaving it as it was but adding some extra points for putts and chips over a set distance that would bring me back in a heartbeat, what do you all think?

Thats not the case for me Dave. I am just to busy to play everything. Last week it was all I could do to finish PGLS Tours (a new addition to an already crowded tourny schedule), Survivor, Divisions and Pairs. Some weeks are better than others, but I will never be able to play em all. To do that I would have to give up my pick-up-alt-shots and that ain't happen'n. In the end, I play the tournies that seem like the most fun. Alot of times that depends on the course and the conditions and other times I just want to make sure I don't miss it each week (pairs for example).

Life comes at ya fast sometimes...

Interesting points Dave.

This week did indeed see a drop in numbers after 2 weeks of increasing numbers since Christmas.

The numbers of completed rounds since Christmas (including Christmas week) are:

149
165
203
143

However, this week was on a fantasy course which I know did not please some people that obviously didn't play or complete because of this fact.

Which rankings are you talking of? as Stableford has it's own Season points list. There is no ranking across competitions any more, just individual Season points for PGA9, PGA18 and Stableford which run for 13 weeks and then reset.

It has been suggested in a few posts elsewhere about alternative Tour ideas, but nothing is going to change in the short term (doesn't hurt with suggestions to mull over).

Regarding the idea for points for long putts etc...you then make it a type of Hazard event without the hazards if you get my drift.

Then what is this saying it is under player stats full ranking.
sure looks like it says there are 5 events that make up this ranking

Disagree about you make it a Hazard event. Hazard is only for putts over 25ft. You get no extra points for making sand shots or chips off the green. Making better then par for shots from the fairway could also be included over a certain distance. I agree we are losing players and will continue with the new format. I am not crazy about it but will continue to play Stableford. If we go back to old system I would like to see the above options be included, if possible.

If you add points for certain shots rather than just purely being based on shots played, it becomes something different, a more HazardLIKE event not a Stableford event.

Before the points system changed, it was just another PGA9 event, just scoring was in reverse, less shots more points. Something different is being tried, it has only been 3 weeks.

Fact time again:

168 rounds at time of typing, so up on last week.

In Dec 19, winning margin:

6,9,6 (ergo won last Dec event)

In Jan 20, winning margin:

6,1,12,(looking like)23

so first 2 weeks of Dec total 21, first 3 weeks of Jan total 19 so only this week is a increased points difference.

Rest of leaderboard looks pretty tight tbh (3rd to 1th covered by just 4pts this week) and this week I had a very lucky week, RickW watched my first 2 rounds live on steam and he saw how I got lucky (Par 5, hit tree with 2nd but stayed dry and pitched in for eagle...very lucky!!). Other 2 rounds were matched or bettered by others.

Multiple Winners:

last 33 events other outright winners have been:

NIBNOB 6 wins
Domino 1 win
ergor76prop 1 win

so yes, multiple winners. by definition I suppose.

You haven't played Mark, so you don't know how close you could have come or how much you could have won by? Not really fair for players to slate the current set up if they haven't entered and given it a chance?

Changing it back would just mean, as I have said before, it becomes PGA9 duplicate unless you shoot worse than double bogey..what's the point, the current points reflect what has been used irl?

good post Mark I have noticed after looking at the leaderboard that you to have also decided to skip
this tourney. I take it is the new improved scoring as the reason why.
however, the numbers of players this week are up but the numbers of finishers so far this week is only 1.
I only see these numbers dropping in the future. maybe it will get back to once again as a very competitive tourney
but I just don't see that happening with the scoring as it is. I just see more of the better players dropping off.
only time will tell. seems this has only turned into a let's see if we can catch andy tourney as so many others have here
anymore turning it into being quite a boring game to play.
