Caliber Ball: More accuracy! Softer ball, so less distance.

Information to help players reduce their strokes during a round with the softer less powerful but far more accurate Caliber ball.
The ball is included in the game. Click Player then Ball and choose the Caliber ball at the bottom right of the page.
Many of us have known this for years but new players can start improving their games after using it for just a couple of rounds. I think once you get use to it (as many have) you'll not go back to the Avant ball.

Good info. Crusher.
I use the Caliber ball - this is my thinking.
If you play Tour Pro, using this ball gives you miss-hit penalties as if you were at the Pro level (more forgiving).
Miss-hit penalties and distances at 123% with the Caliber ball are about equal to those at 100% with the Avant ball.
So...over hit your Driver & 3W with the Caliber to get your distance back. Learn the reduced and much more accurate Iron distances. Best of both.
Putting, chipping, pitching, and sand play are the same at either Pro or Tour Pro levels with either ball.

I played caliber last year and got tired of being out of reach of 560-600 yard par 5's. Now 90% of my drives I'm 120% the default ball.

I agree. I think this is a good ball if coming close to a "fair snap" is tough for a person. I switched back to the Avant too for the distance.

it is a good ball for new people who need a little snap training.
I used it for a few days but had to have that distance back to,lol

The main reason i use caliber ball is to prevent the odd misfire (slider snap shot into the trees ruining my scorecard) which i still get from time to time(with caliber ball they usually stay playable).....having used it for over a year now im so used to the distances, couldnt go back even though im very envious of those 350+ max snaps

.....yes i do miss out on the odd eagle but gain for more birdies......

I think thin flop shots ruin my score more than off line drives, tbh

Earlier this evening, playing on a course where in the earlier round the water hazards seemed to be ball magnets, I decided to try the Caliber ball instead. I had better luck with the water hazards but worse with sand. At the end of the round, my score was one stroke higher than before.
I would dispute the earlier post that said putting plays the same. I putted the same as always and at least three times the ball stopped short of the hole. At least once I missed a putt I would have made because of that (the other times it would have missed anyway because I misjudged the break and/or missed the snap). At a guess, if you're used to putting with the Avant, subtract one from the stimp when putting with the Caliber.
For me it was a wash. I'll keep the Caliber ball in mind in the future but it's not a panacea and it takes some getting used to.
