well i really gotta complain about crazy settings on this tour.
Winds constantly over 21mph ( we were asked not to use)
Hard fairways ( even though constant rain)
conditions completely unrealistic for once.
Am putting this down to an oversight by setter, who usually does a great job.
Just my tuppence worth guys.

yea I myself only use the first level of the strong breeze
I am on the third round now, on the 6th hole and so far off of every tee the wind has been straight in my face
at 15,16,or 17 miles. it is not so much the speed of the wind but damn IRL that would mean the course is built in a straight line
which just doesn't seem right to me. hell I just hit a 3 wood out of the fairway and wound the meter all the way to the end hit the mark
and only got 221 yards out of it. I think one of the biggest issues is the shot length we get with the clubs when this game was being built there were so many of us that posted in the PP forums we need more distance out of the clubs. but that just like all the other great suggestions that were made were only ignored. really too bad because this could have been the best golf game of all time but the Jones Boys just did not have the ambition to pull it off.

I have to agree Dave. Would have been a brilliant game ,if time and effort had been put in by develepors

My appologies guys, I did reduce the wind from gusty to strong breeze (the forecasted wind were high gusty). With wide fairways and no trees hardly to hamper the shot I estimated it would be tough but still playable ( Have used these settings before with no problems). all I can say is I've noted it and will ensure that I will keep the winds down in the future.

IRL, St Andrews Old is straight F9 out, straight B9 in.

As I stated, I thought it was just an oversight.

I managed a 69-65 over the weekend, but yeah headwind is stupid in this game. 120% driver should carry more than 260 even in 20 MPH headwind.

Yep - a 20 mph head wind should carry more.

PG1 has 2 parts of the physics wrong. The wind equations are wrong such that anything over 15 mph is exaggerated.
Also notice that playing the trajectory up or down in the pre-shot doesn't change the spin. Drag on the ball is related to spin, so hitting under the wind is as much about high/ low trajectory as it is about decreasing spin. PG1 doesn't get this right so carry distances don't match data.

I hope the Trackman engineers have taught Andrew Jones some correct physics. I want to say they'll fix it when they come back for PG2 on the PC, but I think that's wishful thinking. I applaud him for what he left us, almost perfect golf.
