Hi all,

You might be aware, I love numbers and stats and keep having a dabble at stuff trying to find things I can add which don't take up much time...doesn't always work out but.....

If you copy and paste the link or click on it if it works, it'll take you to Challonge which is a great little site where you can create cups and leagues.

The knockout you can see is the Amateur Week 35 Cup with seedings based on Week 34's final placings (had to complete week 34 to be in it). Your score in week 35's 1st 9 holes is used for round 1, week 35 round 2 scores for the Quarter finals and so on.

The aim if folks like is to do this each week for all 3 levels (if there's a small number, only 3 rounds may be needed.

Like I said, a bit of fun, what do people think?

The comps stay on that site, so no need to worry about getting them onto this site, just a link is needed and winners can be logged each week in a hall of fame.

Gives a little more importance to each round and you may want to play your cup match in real time against your oppo!

Cheers for reading.

Andy

The link now shows the completed event with the Amateur winner being Gotallofthatone beating Briarfox62 30-33 in the final (2nd seed beating the 8th seed). Kypran beat Wolle for 3rd 33-36.

Worth doing again? Anyone interested?

If so, final leaderboards from this week 35 will be used for seedings for each level, with max 16 taking part.

This week's cups are all completed..how did you fair?

New week's cups will be up later and it will be limited to top 16 from the previous week, don't like having 1 pga9 round counting for 2 cup rounds.

Forgot to mention in first post...if tied, the lower seeded player goes through, call it a giantkiller bonus!

Affo,

Really like the idea, as a sidekick for regular OoM points in PGLS. That I turned out to beat Carl Lapin (the term giantkiller is suitable) did surely attract my attention - for once he couldn't do anything about it....!

About the seedings; have you considered a swiss-system tournament?

I love this format.... so... why isn't it being developed further...hint hint?

Granted, it needs creation and commitment ie you may need substitute players if one week see's a player not turn in scores.
Maybe that could be the mantle... we fail to score, our worst score is entered (worst recent score).
