Greedily taking a chance with a lofted wood from a fairway bunker hoping to make the green in two for an eagle 3 and... plugging in the vertical sod wall and eventually limping off with a 7.

Greed...If I had a buck for every time I paid the price for Greed, I could retire! But I digress...My nemesis...soft fairway / hard green combo! Short of the green and it is like hitting into wet cement while hitting the green sends the ball scooting off the other side!

I have to agree with others... my biggest problem with respect to scoring low is greed. I make a ton of 25 ft birdie putts compared to the number of bunker shot birdies I get. I guess that going for the flag also gets me some birdies, but I think the greed hurts me more than it helps me.
The problem for me is that the joy of the game comes from shaping the shot in my mind and then executing it. There is no fun in imaging a shot to the dead center of the green because the minute you think about the 25 ft putt you say to yourself "I need to be closer." Plus, often times getting closer to the pin requires a slice or hook or some other non-standard/non-boring shot.
Its just more fun when you have to be creative and "center of the green" doesn't require being creative (relatively speaking).
