You should check to see if this is installed Alan.
Type winver in the "Type here to search" section of the TaskBar.

Gave it a try but all I get when I open PG is music and pictures of the golf courses with no way to get anywhere else. Tried with just Admin approval alone also and still got same screen.

Yes, did that long ago with no change. Downloaded the game ready driver from Nvidia today but just played and second round it went to the desktop right I after I did a swing. Loaded PG again, resumed and it took me to same shot to do over again. At least there was no penalty.

Okay this is a long shot but here goes ...
Perfect Golf installs 2 Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributables namely ...
Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86)
Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x64)
I would remove ALL versions you have installed, not just the 2 PG installed for you, reboot (Important) and then let PG re-install the required ones when you try to start it.
Also can you add here the output_log.txt file which you can find in the ...
"\Steam\steamapps\common\Perfect Golf\Perfect Golf_Data" folder

Decided to reset computer back to when I received it. I think some app was causing the problem. So far played three rounds with no issues. Hopefully that was the answer.

Probably a good solution when all else fails. As you said it was probably some other app messing with it. I have done a few resets in the past when things just play up and tradional fixes don't work. Glad you are back out on the course again.

I have the 22H2 installed and haven't had any issues that I could tell.
Most likely was an intrusive App and depending on what state PG was doing at the time will cause different crash situations. I've had it crash to desktop and even shut completely down on occasions. Seems PG is sensitive to data interruptions.
