Sign-up to the PGLS Presidents Cup is now open

MEMBER SIGN UP AREA - Click here to register your interest

Players who wish to take part must of been a member of PGLS for 3 months from the start of the PGLS Presidents Cup and completed rounds in at least one of the PGA 9, PGA 18, PG Classics or PGLS Open tournies to be considered for inclusion in the 12 players and any subs.

To be included in any team, you must sign-up - do NOT expect that not doing so will lead to your inclusion in the event. Signing up is also no guarantee of a place on the team, but will give your Presidents Cup captain an idea of players he will want to assess in trials ahead of the event.

During this stage we need to find Captains for both teams. If anyone is interested in doing so please read the Captains / Vice Captains section of the rules to make sure you are happy doing so, sign-up as above then reply to this topic stating your intentions.

A full set of rules can be found for players and would be Captains / Vice Captains ...

PGLS PRESIDENTS CUP RULEBOOK & EVENT OUTLINE

Signing up to the PGLS Presidents Cup will close on 13th August 2022. After this time the Captains from both teams can then choose their Vice-Captains (Maximum 2).

I would rather not be a captain again - give somebody else the opportunity - but if nobody else steps up, I'll be there

I'd like to make a suggestion to change the partitioning of players by skill groups( TP, Pro, AM). Currently it's 3 of each, and then the a Captain's choice of 3 players. This was the partitioning when PG Ryder & Pres. Cup was put forth in 2015 (first tourny).

I think a lot has changed in 7 years. Those guys that played at Armature back then have advanced to Pro or TP over time. We are becoming top heavy at the TP level - look at who is signing on to play. Both sides are TP heavy.

I think it might be in our best interest to change the partitioning to 3 TP, 2 Pro, and 1 Armature - with 6 Captain's picks. I think this better reflects the guys that signed up this year, on both sides. We have guys that want to play, but might be excluded because of the currant partitioning.

I'm posting this here because I think we need to hear from the players that want to participate in the Pres. Cup.

Oddly enough John I was looking at this the other day, but thought 4 Tour Pro, 4 Pro, 1 Amateur and 3 Captains picks.

Okay to save any arguments here I've gone with my suggestion of 4 x Tour Pro, 4 x Pro, 1 x Amateur and 3 Captains picks.

This has been updated in the rules for both the PGLS Ryder Cup ...

rules.php?ruleset=21

and the PGLS Presidents Cup ...

rules.php?ruleset=22

I agree with Mark, here - I like the 4-4-1 format + 3 Captain's picks, which would be TPs anyway, giving TPs 7 spots of 12 on the teams - having 4 Pros and an Amateur is a challenge for the Captains in team assembly and singles line-ups
