I use CREATEAGAME to set round conditions for marking a course - but it seems to have changed!

I always used to select DIFFICULT pins - but I can't do that now as you have to select a pin for each individual hole, and I have no idea which pins are the difficult ones?!

So how do I get around that please?

Bob,

I think I may have set in motion the "select your pin per hole" idea. Mark is very accommodating to new ideas, so he set this up at my request.
Possibly an easy fix would be to select the default for all holes at once as either all Easy, Medium, or Difficult, then go in hole-by-hole and change to specific Pins.

More work for Mark, but this is becoming a very useful tool.

Bob,

A bit of a confession here

Although the option to set Easy, Medium or Difficult pins was there it was never actually working. I completely forgot to change it from way back. All Pin Positions were set to 0 until recently when I made some changes for John (JMK59) and now you can set any of the pins. In the API the Easy, Medium and Difficult pin settings are ignored in favour of the hole Pin Positions, so when you played a game created by createAgame it used Pin Position 0 for all holes.

I will be updating the createAgame script in due course to actually show you which pin is Easy, Medium or Difficult (denoted with E, M and D).

"...the truth will out!" - from Shakespeare's 'The Merchant of Venice', 1596.

Well, I will just select the highest numbered pins for the time being until you 'fix' the selection choice Mark!

Randy, thanks, I've already tried to use the Hole Viewer application but my 2003 version of Excel can't handle it lol...

Bob,

I coded the Hole Viewer with EXCEL 2007, so it shouldn't be too far off to get it to run in 2003.

What kind of error messages are you getting?

John

Edit: Well, I tried to save the Hole Viewer as an EXCEL 2003 compatible ".xls" file. There are over a dozen un-supported features that would be lost. So it looks like any EXCEL, 2007 and newer, but no online EXCEL (no vba), will work with this. Sorry.

That's a shame John - but it seems I am having a problem viewing Affo's 'Extra's', as well as RandyG's page and my new page 'The Fletcher Ratings'. Last night Mark tried to solve the problem and I thought he had when suddenly 'The Fletcher Ratings' page appeared with no error messages - but then, just as suddenly, it didn't work again and I keep getting this message:

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to onedrive.live.com. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). Error code: SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

Mark's going to try to work out an answer and, hopefully, he'll get to the root of the problem!

Bob,

I know Onedrive is associated with the Online version of Excel. Onedrive imposes a 5Mb limit to file sizes, so if your file size is close to that it might kick you off.

EXCEL 2007 is the earliest version that supports some of the features that make my spreadsheets work the way I want (certain macro functions and conditional formatting). For all Macros, the Visual Basic App is required (not included with online versions).

I've built 6 spreadsheet APPs for myself all based on EXCEL 2007. Course Directory, Hole Viewer, FEDEX Career (75% done), 60 Years of the MAJORS (90% done), Scoring Analysis of 60yrs of Majors and 20yrs of FEDEX,and a Golf Physics Simulator (club-set model, collision model, flight model, and working on the ground interaction model). The last one is where I tried to help Andrew understand how to properly model the Wind.

Thanks to Mark I can now view the 'Fletcher Ratings' page and RandyG's course location page, as well as all of Affo's extras. Your 'Hole Viewer' application, however, will have to wait until I update my Excel program!

Sorry Bob, Excel 2007 & 2010 seem to be the "sweat spot" of the franchise. After 2010, Microsoft started to take away useful functions and add bloatware. I upgraded to 2007 using my kids free University pass code. If you can do the same, its worth it.
