I'm not sure, the devs were supposed to be releasing a few of our courses with the latest patch but all we got was that one course and i have no idea who made that, i guess it would be ok, i have had no communication with them for a while now.Tresclub wrote:btw, is this something that can be mentioned over in the PG Forums?

I'll check with Mike Jones, see what he says. If he says it's ok, can I post the link to your course on PG?

Re: New course for download "Ridgeway municipal"
I played the course today and found it quite narrow! (see my follow up post below) I also found the greens a bit over-done (I selected the difficult pin locations and a stimp of 13), meaning there were many of them where significant and double-breaking putts were noted from within 10 feet. Sorry, I should have recorded replays, the entire round, and/or made notes to provide examples.
I did notice on #8 that the three small green looking areas short of the green seemed to be elevated a few inches/foot above the rough. My ball ended up just on the edge of one of these areas, and I thought it was an oddly coloured grass area. When I played the shot, I hit the edge of the ball only went 3-4 yards forward and to the right, leaving me a shot over the bushes to the green. I think something is amiss with at least of these areas (I didn't check the others).
On #11 (I believe), my tee shot was left of the fairway in the bunker. From this bunker, I had no option but to hit a short iron out - but not because of the lip or depth of bunker, but because a small bushy/tree area that was planted between this bunker and the green/layup area (in the middle of the fairway). This jumped out at me as a bit "tricked up" feature of the course - the bunker itself should be enough of a penalty, and if the designer wants to add additional challenge, the bunker could be deepened or a lip could be added on the downhole side of it to ensure a player won't get home in two from that bunker. Or, remove the bunker leaving on the bushes in the middle of the fairway. If this option is selected, I'd suggest moving the bushes closer to the middle of the fairway, as the few yards of fairway to the left of these bushes is absolutely a waste at the moment.
The course was nicely, although heavily, planted (it's not overdone, but there are a lot of the same plantings in areas). I'm not sure if this is related, but on the 17th and 18th holes, my computer started slowing/stuttering a bit on all shots. Did anyone else find these holes extra taxing on the graphics? Maybe it was just how many strokes I'd taken on my round! I do play on full max graphical settings, and I don't think my computer would cope with multiple players for any longer than I played (unless it is just these holes). Of course, I could lower my settings and (probably) avoid such stuttering, but I prefer not to. (This slowing down/stuttering was something with my computer, not an issue with the course - see my follow up post below)
Overall, it's a very challenging course (for me) and quite narrow with very challenging greens. I don't have a well-grooved MS and I play with no aids at the Tour Pro level. I suspect this course was designed as a challenge for players using some/many aids and/or lower difficulty settings. That is definitely not an issue, but it's just not a course that I'll likely be visiting very often - at least until I get a consistent swing. (See my follow up post below.)

Re: New course for download "Ridgeway municipal"
Thanks for the feedback Armand.
I will load it up later and see what I get with respect to the issues raised.
Hopefully Dogz will look in on this topic.

Re: New course for download "Ridgeway municipal"
I've played the course again today, this time under more benign conditions and a stimp of 9. The fairways aren't as narrow as my first impression, and so I must taken back that comment. I also didn't have any slowing of the game during the last couple of holes, so there must have been something going on with my computer the first time around.
In this round, I noticed how large some of the greens were - HUGE! Thankfully, I didn't have any really long putts, but I still noted a few little bumps/breaks near the holes. I notice that on other courses and MJ has posted about it on the PP forums, so perhaps it's not a course design issue. However, I did notice that the hole handicaps are unconventional. I can't say they are wrong, but I also can't recall any courses with hole handicaps assigned as they are on Ridgeway Municipal. Typically, hole handicaps are assigned with all even handicaps on either the front or back nine, with the odd handicaps on the opposite nine. I don't think that will really affect 18-hole rounds much, but it might be an issue for 9-hole rounds between players of different abilities.
Based on my further play at the course, my original post was probably a bit exaggerated. I've made some edits to my post above so as others may not be dissuaded from enjoying Ridgeway Municipal!

Re: New course for download "Ridgeway municipal"
I had some issues with F3 - preview green view, whisking me off at a tangent to the green I wanted to check out from the tee, can't remember which hole now, maybe 5 or 6?
