How does the guy who sets these pins sleep at night?
I understand, its meant to be difficult. That's the challenge. But when its set up so no matter how well you hit the snap, or calculate the distance, or do the right thing on the shot for wind, and the ever present absolutely RANDOM power loss, and then after all of that, the landing spot you MUST hit to avoid the down slope on a fast green is impossible, then its not fun anymore. Closest to the pin should be anywhere, not just on the green. Tired of balls rolling off 2 inches and getting zero for a great effort, many times less than 10 feet away from the flag stick.

NIB, you played one round..
A shot in ruff to an elevated green with a bunker in front and the flag 10 feet behind it...and tree limbs right above your head. Yes, great set up. The power loss on shots in the ruff also change for the second shot, no what's point of a second shot? Why can't we just hit golf shots to see who's closest to the pin, instead of gimmicks? Just asking.

This tourney is totally for fun, full stop. The tees and pins are set up by the designer of the course and they are optional, in other words, some designers don't bother putting them in at all. Granted, some course creators take the challenge tees more serious than others, but some go to extremes. I find that these do help practice some common trouble shots.

at least i can agree with you on this, i did like the tourney better when we only hit one shot per holeFlop7Wood wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2019 3:53 pm Why can't we just hit golf shots to see who's closest to the pin, instead of gimmicks? Just asking.
and would have no issue at all if it went back to that format instead of having 2 tries at it.

Re: How does the guy who sets these pins sleep at night?
I think the challenge is more for practice then trying to win anything. I like the two shots because it helps you learn the shot for when you play the real tournaments which count for stats. I don't see the need for a power loss on a second shot and not sure why that is used. This weeks challenge was very fair and each shot was attainable. You can play a regular course for practice and take ten shots, sometimes, to get it right. Use it to practice and don't get too frustrated. There have been some challenge tournaments where many shots were impossible but players spoke out immediately and I feel that issue has been resolved. Have fun, it's just a game.

I believe it requires no change or adjustment, the set up is just fine, really its a practice venue basically called skills to improve your over all game floppy.

Re: How does the guy who sets these pins sleep at night?
I learned something. Didn't know there were actually challenge tees for each course. I do have fun playing the skilz. I do know its just for practice. Two more thoughts and then I'll shut up.
Everyone here, who posted a comment, except me, doesn't need to practice.
I never have those kinds of shots in a game.
