Again this tells me that some of the players in the level above and top level are playing above their ability and have been promoted too soon or have been promoted because they chose that level, so explain how a player can request to be promoted to a higher level ( IN OTHERS WORDS SELECTING THEIR OWN LEVEL which is what most of this debate has been about) but not a lower level? Letting players move up as they request its no wonder players playing well at their level are beating 80% of the level above them, because they shouldn't be at that level in the first place then add the new players who are automatically given pro regardless of how good or bad they are into the mix you have a very flawed system.Affo wrote: Sun Dec 22, 2019 5:37 pm No, when you were promoted, you were just outscoring nearly all the level above and most of the top level

Re: Having Fun Yet?
Primarily it is about beating the rest of your own level by over 5 shots per round in that month...having the 80% rule hasn't actually influenced many promotions not picked up by the beat your level average by 7.5%.
Any system using human players and different levels and a game in which people can deliberately shoot high may be flawed, there is no 100% cast iron perfect system. You don't like it, fair enough.

The scores may be unrealistic, or even a joke but heyho, that's what we got.
Play well and enjoy your game everyone!

Re: Having Fun Yet?
When it comes down to playing levels I'd rather not see any!! LOL...but sadly can't have rules for each individual, got to be the same for all or not bother with any.
A free choice for all is my stance, and can still see not one valid argument against it!! Maximum enjoyment for the individual. Maximum competitiveness for the individual. And they'll play more because of it. At the moment the opposite happens - I have the proof!
Who buys a game to then be told they have to play at a certain level, whether they want to or not?! No sense at all...
Re: Having Fun Yet?
I wasn't on about players shooting high on purpose, I'm referring to players playing higher than their ability becauseAffo wrote: Sun Dec 22, 2019 6:19 pm Any system using human players and different levels and a game in which people can deliberately shoot high may be flawed
1 They requested that level (chose their own level) I still haven't seen an explanation why this is allowed as it stills interferes with scoring, a good amateur or pro will beat a poor pro or tour pro every time by 5 or even more shots if they aren't ready for that level because they have been promoted too soon or requested that level.
2 What about all the new members been given pro status whether they are good enough or not? There scores should not even be in the mix until they are given a true level of their play.
Well as you said in a previous post today I wasn't the top scorer in the ammy ranks when promotedAffo wrote: Sun Dec 22, 2019 6:19 pm Primarily it is about beating the rest of your own level by over 5 shots per round in that month...having the 80% rule hasn't actually influenced many promotions not picked up by the beat your level average by 7.5%.
and I dont ever recall beating the rest of the field by 5 shots PER ROUND over the month.Affo wrote: Sun Dec 22, 2019 5:37 pm You were a little unlucky in that you were the 4th lowest scoring Amateur that month and was only just inside the promotion mark

Re: Having Fun Yet?
Oh my, tag team posting....I believe there was a vote re selecting levels for the new Tours and the PLAYERS voted against it. Everybody knows your stance on Level choosing, 74% I think disagreed. You really can't see any argument against it Bob?
People who bought the game don't HAVE to play here, that is a choice. They can read the rules and decide whether they want to take part or not, simple. And if they are playing for fun and want to stay at a level, avoid the 3, yes only 3 events. People if they want to play for fun (and it has been written many times already) have plenty of events to play and not worry about levelling up if they played consistently well. If you decide to play in the documented events, score much better than the rest of the Tier, you get promoted, again all in the rules. That is your again, your choice but you then may change level.
Les, Nov 18, you averaged 64.2 per round as previously stated. The average for the Amateur section that month after ignoring the top and bottom 10% of players to not include anomalies was 69.53 that's 5.33 shots per round better than the average Ammi. Over 35 rounds too, so quite conclusive. The promotion mark was 64.31.

Re: Having Fun Yet?
HAHAHAHA no doubt Paul will be here shortly to weigh in to support you Andy, like he usually does, so there's another 'tag team' for you as you put it so eloquently.Oh my, tag team posting....
I see a simplistic vote - but there are no good reasons (or ANY reasons for that matter) given for having to comply with PGLS playing levels. There is a difference between a vote and an argument. I don't recall any posts from any of the 74% explaining WHY we should adhere to PGLS playing levels. If there are, please point me in their direction...I believe there was a vote re selecting levels for the new Tours and the PLAYERS voted against it. Hehe, toucheee Bob, he may well might, who knows, lol.
There wasn't a need for explanations or backing up of vote. It was quite clear what is was for, you posted and I believe Paul then posted and the punters voted.
Cubbies, just enjoying the forum discussion...all good this end, nothing's changing, just some chewing of the fat and differences of opinion but all civil
