Video Cards and Solid State Drives

Post here anything to do with technical issues with computers in general. Don't expect a response but I'm sure people would be happy to try.

Video Cards and Solid State Drives

Post by Crusher »

In general, a 500GB SSD is now 50 to 75% less than it was seven years ago. Solid State Drives are so much better in terms of system performance, far less heat, far less wattage, easy to install , 1/4 the size of an HDD and nothing to wear out. Life of an SSD? In our computers with modern SSD's that has yet to be determined. Based on my own experiences since the first generation of SSD's were released, I would say today's SSD drives will outlast the computer. IMHO (Note: SSD does not require defragmenting or file indexing.)

As for the nVidia GTX 900 series and the AMD Radeon R9 300 series high performance Graphics Cards, they are super for JNPG. My preferences for OEM's using nVidia chips are EVGA and PNY. With AMD chips for Radeon are Strix and Sapphire. To be candid, all the manufactures of these cards are very good. The difference in the US is like deciding on a Ford or a Chevrolet.

Happy shopping everyone!
