I (and my teammate) truly enjoy this tournament. My only issue with it is the 7 round format, due to work constrictions. Bump it down to 5 and give that a try...more days to complete a round will help a lot in my case. Hope you can try that to keep it going.

I can make any changes that will help keep this going. The reason for the current setup of 3 days per round was to increase the number of pairs rounds available per week but that seems to have had a detrimental affect on the numbers playing.

Rick’s suggestion of changing it to 5 rounds may work better for everyone.

The 3 day window to play was a challenge at times to schedule for. Missed final rd last month as lost track of closing date, cost us remaining in division 1. Missed 2 this month for vacation times. More time per rd would be much better if looking to get more teams to complete the tournament rds what ever the format.

just make Pairup 9 into Pairup 18 and do away with Div pairs, more golf that way.....easier for setters

Survivor Pairs would see teams having to wait along time if they get knocked out early, which would lead to more drop outs....

Agree with the survivor comment and thought about the 3 weeks to wait if you lost in round 1. How about adding a Pairs 18 holes 4 rounds per month? Set it up like monthly cut round with or without the cuts.

Just change format to match up with Single Divisions as suggested above...5 days per round. Pairs 18 and I probably won't be able to continue for one sadly.
The scores may be unrealistic, or even a joke but heyho, that's what we got.

Play well and enjoy your game everyone! :drinks:

btw, not a game for snowflakes.

OK I will ask Mark to change it to the same as Divisions and see how the attendance is. Maybe would could also ask for everyone to sign up again like they did when Divisions pairs started. That way we start with a fresh group who might actually play each round.

i think you mean survivor. you also may have to wait till Mark gets back from holiday to make any changes
i don't think he can get good internet access where he is at, that is why the course updates have not been
moved onto our MEGA account yet. maybe you ought to just run 1 more month of the division pair up before you try and change anything
he will not be back till the 1st of Aug.and I am sure he wont have time to deal with a bunch of changes when just getting home.
looks like we still had 20 teams play the last round maybe it just needs some time to grow.
Alan I know you have taken on a lot of stuff to do if you just wanted to give this one up. i would be willing to run it
I got plenty of time on my hands.
seems we had 20 out of 30 teams play it those numbers are really not that bad I would say give it some time to grow and keep it going as is.

Dave, No I mean will change Division Pairs from 7 round tournaments to 5 like regular Divisions. That means more time between rounds because 3 days was too short for some players. I understand I would have to wait till Mark gets back. I would rather not do another month of current Division Pairs since attendance would still be based on guys having only 3 days between rounds. I would like Division Pairs to start brand new which would require signing up and would eliminate guys who no longer want to play. As far as taking it over, I will do, at least, the first NEW Division Pairs tournament then will decide if I want to give it up. I really do appreciate the offer and it helps knowing if I do give it up someone is will to take it over.

Also John, Andy's pair partner is going to do what Andy did to make both Divisions more competitive. Just heard from him and this was what he wrote:

Andy and I are pairs teammates and have talked about how the Cups work - so yes the same kind of Cups that we had before you took over.

I have a spreadsheet template for a 32 man bracket.

Divisions: Two Cups (Gold and Silver) would be seeded by the top 64. Only change I would make is it's open to all Divisions participants, and seeding is done by total points earned the previous month regardless of division. This kinda forces teams to play as many rounds as possible to qualify.

Divisions Pairs: One Cup (Gold) seeded by top 32 teams (pairs). Same qualifying process as Divisions (open to all teams, top points as seeding).

Posting the bracket in the Forums, same as before. Need a button on the Tables pages to take you directly there would be great.

John

Hope this will entice former players to come back and make current players happy.
