"Sunday" pins and wind in the first round?

Post by whattashot »

Tournament says mixed pins. 11 of 18 are difficult and only 2 of 18 easy. Bah! Is anyone else tired of 14mph winds in your face on two holes that are a 90 degree turn from the green on the first one to the tee on the next one? Bah! Someone shot -14 in that? Bah!

I never pick the pin by difficulty. I look at each green, showing all the pin positions, then pick which pins would fit the conditions for the round. Round 2 only 5 difficult pins. 14 scores that are double digits under par round 1. I try to use actual conditions when using real courses and it was windy in Texas today. I have no way of knowing what direction, off the T, the wind will be blowing. I know you are just venting but thought I would let you know my thought process.

I have played real golf in Texas wind - set up for Round 1 was spot on, Riddler and well thought out - good job! There will always be bitchers and moaners who want easy rounds - fuk 'em - don't let the bastards get you down - you are doing a great job with set ups!

Hard to comprehend what whatttashot is complaining about - he hit 12 of 14 fairways and 13 of 18 greens - I was 4 of 14 and 10 of 18 and I'm not complaining!

If a Tour Pro wants easier rounds all he has to do is drop down to Pro!

LOL LOL - so, Flyer, you think that conditions vary for Pro over Tour Pro? Have another beer! LOL

Got nothing to do with conditions. At Pro you play with advantages built into the game that Tour Pros don't have like snap and distance assists.

I have played many games at Tour Pro, Flyer, and found the only difference to be shot alignment - no diff in snap tolerance nor distance assists

the only difference is you can not use the overhead map to do your aiming in Tourpro
everything else is the same as Pro, that is why I have often wondered why some people stay in PRO mode for so lone instead
of moving on to tour pro where they really belong.

Hey Dave. Respectfully disagree. A while back I searched forum archives for the original dev's post that told us how they were setting this all up. No luck. I guess all we have to go on is memory. I remember how hard core the dev's and members were to make this the greatest game ever. We talked about every aspect and little issues sometimes became big ones. Setting the levels was a pretty big one. The dev's set it as a level up game with each level progressively more difficult. Since everyone had the same equiment they chose assists or aids to determine the difficulty. Lowest level gets the most assists and Tour Pro gets none. I don't remember all the assists but we're talking about snap and distance assists plus aiming in the overhead map. I don't think you cold save enough shots in a round using the overhead map to warrant having it's own level. There was a group that fought hard to have it in Tour Pro but just not enough of an issue. If the dev's would have agreed to it they could of just had it as an option button for Tour Pro. Maybe other people that were around back then could tell what they remember. Can anybody find the original post?
