Week 30

Post by IanD »

So.... why the choice of courses this week ?

I had thought, and am obviously mistaken, the PGA 18 was the pinnacle tour of all those here. It is likely the longest running and most solid tours, in terms of using real courses, and likely conditions. It isn't the type of tour we would see some of the courses such as Devils Island etc... but Forest Lake ?
I'm likely to be unkind toward HeNs, but the course is more likely to appeal to those playing the Hazard Tour or Tough Stuff.. it isn't a PGA 18 course and in no way will I ever play again lol...

Either a compliment to the designer or a critique... but WTF is going on with pin positions that ridicule golf... if I wanted to play arcade or crazy golf, I'd play another game.

Maybe I'm harsh...lol... maybe I've just finished a round, where I saw my 2nd shot to the green on a par 4, hit the green and actually head toward the pin, and drop in...for an eagle. I should be chuffed... I'm simply relieved I didn't have to putt again. There are greens out there that are an embarrassment to the game of golf. I expected more from this course in terms of playability, especially as it was chosen in this tour. So... I have to ask... what is happening within this Tour..?

Ian,

This was one of our occasional 'themed' weeks on the Tour, hence the Four Lakes Championship title, and the use of Bandon Dunes and Trails in a double-header.

I hold my hands up if it was a poor choice.

It wasn't set up to be unduly harsh in particular.

I'll apologize for it not being to your liking, but I think the question of "What is happening within this tour" is a little over-the-top. I do what I can each week to make sure there is variety, a good rotation of courses of all types, and conditions which are playable but that will ask questions.

I also try not to make it so that players are visiting the same courses if they happen to play at another Tour Provider, so I will at times dip into the archive for lesser-used courses, but will also then set up for classic venues just as often.

I have to say, Forest Lake is no longer on my HD. However, this tour is happening quite well, and many thanks to Mike and Mark for everything they do.

Mike, I confess, my wording could always be better.... my apologies. However, simply asking what is happening within this tour wasn't meant as an insult. I will always be the outspoken type lol.. and where a question can be asked, I'll likely be the one doing it... ;)

I had no issues with the PGA 9... the use of the Bandon courses, are without fault. Different... certainly, but an ideal fit for 2 x 9 holes on each course. However, the question I asked within here was about the type of golf we appear to be playing, upon Forest Lakes. Granted, I had not looked at the Four Lakes Championship title... but I guess, with the feedback, you know the thoughts regarding this course. I'd likely not have said anything, except for the issues that course has, and the pin locations being offered. It didn't feel deserving of the usual standard this tour has previously delivered. I do state that as a compliment....!

As for other tours, and their courses being the same... I don't play anywhere else, so I don't really see those clashes. Not saying they need to be avoided.. but if we have a standard here, don't worry about the other providers.

As for what you do here Mike.... I should step back and thank you. This site offers me, a great service and entertainment, for nothing. I honestly appreciate having so many options available, and only now, have I felt the need to voice myself. Rude I know... I'd buy you a drink though Mike... and I'd not do that for many folk !
