Putts That Just Won't Go In

Post by Golferdee »

Just wondering what you guys have experienced.

I have a library full of putts from all sorts of distances that stopped anywhere between 2 and 0 inches from the hole !!

What's your story?

When I played the game for real, if what happens now happened then many a putter would be changed or/and many a ball would be launched into space!! However, as the saying goes "a good workman nevers blames his tools". Golferdee I'm glad I'm not alone.
Cheers,
Rustyred.

At least this is something that can and does happen in real golf. I'll complain a lot louder about things where that's not the case, such as trying to do a pitch shot over a bunker, it lands short in the bunker... and plugs.

Yes I know all about that one too - very frustrating, but I guess that's just golf and something we all experience too.

I'm almost 79 years old, and have been watching golf on TV since the 60's. I have never seen it. Played for 55 years. Never seen it. On this game it is almost commonplace.

I spoke to Andrew Jones about this back in Oct 2017, just before they bolted.

He said the plugging model was a random number occurrence based on the impact angle only. (it's bad physics).

Sand ballistics is one of my areas of expertise (engineer), so I sent him a detailed model with the promise that it would be in PG2.
