Re: PG Classic Courses
Introducing the next PG Classic course Torrey Pines South 00.00 15/08/18 to 11.59 20/09/18
Long recognized as one of the nation's foremost municipal golf facilities, Torrey Pines is located about 20 minutes north of downtown San Diego on the coastal bluffs of Southern California. Bounded by mountains to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the west, the seaside courses are often swept by sunshine or by rain, fog and chilling winds.
Torrey Pines North and Torrey Pines South are each 18-hole courses, and both are played by PGA Tour professionals during the Buick Invitational of California, held in January or February every year.
Both courses were originally designed in 1957 by William Bell, Sr. In 2001, Torrey Pines South underwent a $3.5 million renovation and redesign by Rees Jones, making it longer and more difficult. It quickly gained a new-found respect with the PGA Tour Pros and was selected by the USGA to host the 2008 U.S. OPEN Golf Championship in June 2008. This establishes Torrey Pines Golf Course with the distinction of being the âOnlyâ Municipal golf course ever selected by the USGA to host a U.S. OPEN Golf Tournament.
Although both golf courses provide some of the most dramatic ocean views from several holes, Torrey Pines North is still considered the host for the Torrey Pines Golf Course signature hole - the Par 3 # 6 Hole with the 3rd hole (also a Par 3) on Torrey Pines South Course being a very, very close
second overall.

Re: PG Classic Courses
Introducing your next PG Classic course Cypress Point Starting 00.00 01/09/18 ending 23.59 13/09/18
Glamorous Cypress Point, Alister Mackenzie's masterpiece woven through cypress, sand dunes and jagged coastline, wasn't always the darling of America's 100 Greatest. Golf Digest demoted it to the Fifth Ten back in the early 1970s, saying, "It's not surprising that good players might find Cypress Point wanting: it has several easy holes and a weak finisher." Our panel has since changed its collective opinion. In the 2000s, member Sandy Tatum, the former USGA president who christened Cypress Point as the Sistine Chapel of golf, convinced the club not to combat technology by adding new back tees, but instead make a statement by celebrating its original architecture.
âCypress Point encompasses one of the most spectacular pieces of property one can imagine. The beauty lies within and outside the golf course boundaries, and you may have a few deer grazing to add to natureâs gift. The variety is most amazing: You have some holes that are dune type golf, then you are in the woods for mountain golf, and of course you finish up with the famous seaside stretch for some of the best holes in the world.â

Re: PG Classic Courses
Introducing our next PC Classic course Baltusrol Lower (Tour Edition) Starting 00.00 12/09/18 to 24/09/18
The Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey, the site of the 98th PGA Championship and soon host to its 16th major championship, has such a long history that nobody remembers anymore where the body was found. Literally.
The body gave the club its name. It came from 61-year old farmer Baltus Roll who was murdered there in 1831 while working the acreage that then included an orchard and vegetable gardens.
Sixty years later, the founder of The Social Register, Louis Keller, had converted the farm to an estate and used it as a weekend retreat. In 1895 he built the first golf course on the property, opened a club and called it Baltusrol. As far as golf is concerned, the history was just beginning.
By 1918 the club had already hosted five major championships including two US Womenâs Amateurs and two US Opens when A. W. Tillinghast was brought in to rework what was soon to be called the âOld Course.â
