...which is fine. It's not for everybody. I do enjoy the chat and also a beer or six...so you may not care for my company...based on what I read above.davefv92c wrote: Sat Feb 29, 2020 8:57 pm not a big fan of discord, just something about I don't like.
I think back when PGLS had a teamspeak server it was used a lot more then the discord room has been used.
I use the teamspeak at the Caddyshack when playing the pair up with Stan the past few weeks and have had much enjoyment.
to be honest, though I don't want to voice chat with everyone I play with some folks are just not much fun on VC. and they every now and then you run across the guy preaching the scriptures had it happen a few times and what a drag, then ya got the drinkers who what to talk about how much they have had to drink and most of the times that ends up being a silly bunch of crap. then you get those fella's who cant chat and play at the same time then it takes forever to get a round in. voice chat is good but it does have drawbacks.

Re: Would it be possible?
I get that Dave. I am new here. I wasn't casting all blame your way. It's just that it seems to happen so often...both here and on the PP forums. It really does keep me from voicing an idea or opinion. Since I am new, I do not know what history you and Cubbies may have...and frankly, I don't care. But to be observant, I don't think the opinion of why VC rooms don't work is accurate...more accurate is why they don't work for you...

Re: Would it be possible?
Fact is, there are so many tournaments here each week that, in my opinion, it would be impossible to play online with another player all the time. I play as many as I can with another player, but, as I said, impossible to do it for all the OOM tourneys.

Re: Would it be possible?
I think its good to have a choice, Some prefure 9 hole games, some enjoy the fun games like hazard and tough Stuff. I and others would rather play 18 hole games. I play mostly PGA18 and New PGLS Tour and Classic with dunc when time allows and solo PGA9. and if time allows I might get through a couple of rounds of Stableford. It helps to have a choice I think. good job we all dont like the same things

Re: Would it be possible?
now here is an idea that could be tried to promote more MP tourney play.
first off we need to promote the discord.
put a room in there named looking for tourney play where members could meet up to play tourney play whatever tourney it may be.
then when members put together their 2,3, or 4 somes they could then move to a sub room to play the tourney.
now I have always played my tourneys by myself except the pair up, but I am not all against trying to play some in MP with people who are here to be serious about the game and keep a good pace going. I also think the pace is a reason why so many like to play them alone. I don't think I am much different then many playing this game and that is I do my best when I am playing at my own pace or at least a good moving pace.
just a thought don't know if it would work but could be given a try. I think we have a lot of players on discord now and maybe that would grow since it is a free program.
we could also see about getting a forum put in titled Looking for tourney play here where folks could post to set up MP tourney rounds
as many folks just don't want to use voice chat for one reason or another. but it could be a jumping-off place for people who don't mind the ingame chat while playing and could lead to getting more folks to use the voice chat or at least playing their tourneys with others. we do have a bunch of people in and out of the forums on a daily basis.

There is already a "Meet & Greet" room in the PGLS Discord channel, listed above the 10 Game Rooms.

Re: Would it be possible?
yes, I have noticed that Mark, I am on the discord now looking at the list of members who have discord and wow there is a bunch. this morning when I finish the pair up tourney with stan we will use it and see how it goes, my biggest issue with discord has been even though I am set up for push to talk
it is still voice-activated and I have never been able to get it to work right.

Re: Would it be possible?
yep i got how to do it Rick but just don't work right i have always thought maybe just something with the headset i use
that is not letting me use it correctly i use a wireless logitech. when i do use my desktop mic and speakers it does work right.
just got done using the steam chat this week and i must say it has been a long time since i tried it but it is much improved and worked great.
