You're right, of course. The biggest shouts about the game tend to be related to the desire for increased reality, and yet I suspect many of those same people are probably using the F keys routinely. Either way, it should be one rule for all.
Personally, the map and contour grid are the only things I use, which might explain why I'm still only a slightly above average amateur level player ;)

The F Keys were built in for some reason by someone who is involved with the engineering of the game. No one could stumble upon an exploit like that accidentally. Having said that, hopefully the devs will remove that garbage from JNPG2 but if they don't remove or they add another exploit then something is terribly wrong with the mind-set of one or more of the developers.
I play well without exploits. I play using "just" the features and methods allowed at each level. The overhead cam (map) and forward view aiming is all I need from T to G. When putting and chipping, I use the grids and the 'break line indicator' (BLI) .
I don't even use a meter with dots. IMHO dots should be eliminated for Pro and Tour Pro levels.
Finally. When PP gets their act together with JNPG2, I hope PP only allows a mouse and one specific controller. A controller that cannot be jimmied by the end user. My druthers? PC only for JNPG2

Re: no longer fun when....
this is not going to change ones ability to golf well. It may allow one to aim faster, dont have to re-zoom to check. .
Solution one: If a game or part of a game is not fun for you look for options instead adding toxic posts of mountainous mole hills.
Solution two: more golf less finger.
