Personally, my goals now are to try to get the perfect round, all FIR, all GIR 1 putt per green and all birdies and eagles from Champ tees, that's how I stay enjoying the game. Damn difficult one to achieve and normally fail by missing the 1st fairway, but there's always the next round!!
And if you make it past the first shot, then there is always a screw up waiting on hole 18!

Happy to play the PG Classics, just doesn't fit into my available time to play, though I have played the 1st round at Devil's Island in this event..can't see your name on the leaderboard yet?, thought this event would be ideal for you being a handicapped event? Not easy giving 18 shots a round and more to some people (maybe a few out their who "look after" their handicap) especially at Am and Hacker level who can go 122% every shot with literally no sideways or length penalty, but I will try to finish this one just to see how I fair against the plus handicappers (if I can stop shaking with fear that is :) )
The Seasonal OOM events I have no doubt will stay gross only.
The scores may be unrealistic, or even a joke but heyho, that's what we got.

My normal favourite is the drivable Par 4 with water one side with the don't click earl, don't click early....and you click early for a plink into the water and then scrape a par if lucky!....and on to the next round....

That is the one problem with Handcap is the sand bagging that goes on. I really only have time for a round a day anymore and I play the RTS event each week and the Classic which goes every two weeks. I hate to say this but the OP sounds to me like he feels he is entitled to win an event and that's not an attack just an observation. If it was about winning I would have been gone a long time ago but for me it's the fun and how I compare to others of my skill.
Maybe the answer lies in seperate tourneys....I sympathize(yes i had to google how to spell that) with Merlin and other newbees, theres no way you are going to win against players who have played golf games forever.....
The real enjoyment i get out of this game is the chase.....trying to compete with the likes of Affo and Step and others(yes you Cubbie + Bows) is what keeps me going......Also playing with me Pardo Perc, gives me great joy.....we help each other i think.....
To Merlin........Dont give up, never give in.........Winners never quit and quitters never win
lots of good posts in here, Mark is right the fun of this for me is also chasing people in the leaderboards some of these
better players i have been chasing for years through multi golf titles. i get better little by little.
like i said in an earlier post Merlin just keep plugging away, you will get there.
Hi Merlin and all,
I would like to play well .... but i think some works are nécesserally ... I hate work now !
I took amateur level and my scores are lows... but one day I will be able to obtain a good handicap.
This is a game and it is funny for me, but to try scoring is other thing ;)
I have pleasure when a "good player" play with me and i try to beat him !
But i'm young in my head :) (near to 74 at this moment) i play, i play, I play generally for pleasure at golf, chess, pétanque, snooker, poker, bet and so one i will not be never a ace but I will have had the joy of play avec Pro people and friends.
Have merry Xmas , and perhaps in my shoe some points of handicap if i'm wise :). Later mates and "Champagne for all"
BoB +6 :) sry for my poor english
