tourney

Post by davefv92c »

not trying to create any wave's just wondering about these CTP tourneys.
having a hard time understanding why some green's can not even be made
just makes no sense to me at all, mostly has to do with wind keeping folks from the greens on some shots.
still makes no sense to me to have a CTP where you can't make the green.
just asking

I can confirm we have been made aware that the pins on Hole 8 on the Front 9 and Holes 10 and 12 on the Back 9 of this weeks course at Barnacle Bay are almost certainly unreachable. Anyone managing to do so please let us know.

The placement of the shot to green is not within our control and is set by the course designer. The Barnacle Bay course will therefore be removed from use in any further CTP 9 tournies at PGLS.

mark if you ever want someone to test a course for you before putting it up please feel free to ask.
something i was wondering was if you put it closet to the green and keep it in the fairway would that better a score
rather then coming up short in the rough or a trap?

Dave,

The ball has to come to a stop on the green for it to gain any points. A hole in one gets you 1,000 points. Anywhere else you lose 250 points.

We are always looking out for course testers, beta or otherwise ...

I was completely unaware until this morning of how these things were setup. I have run into holes in the past that I thought were unreachable, but I assumed that whoever set it up had tested the shot and found it possible to score. I figured it was the skill level I was playing or lack of skill, I thought surely someone could make the shot or it would not be in the tourney. Wrong again Perc!

I found out today that the fine condition setters here at PGLS have no control over the tees. So that raises the question, are the designers able to make those shots? I would like to think so, but I'm not so sure. Anyway, now that I know, I'll just figure that no one will be making points on those holes and move on to the next.

Is PGLS able to set other conditions (wind, speed etc.)?

Hats off to all that you guys do, thanks.

Yes we can set all conditions of the CTP, exactly the same way we do with any of the other tournies.

Only the position of where the shot is played from is out of our control.

im looking to test some of these so we don't run into the same problem next week we have this week.
i will start running through some of the courses that this MOP can be set on and report back here in a few days with a list of courses good for this challenge. boy it is great to be able to be a helping hand, for some reason i did not get accepted for the beta team how ever i have 4 different designers
who do send me their courses to look at and test pins before they are released some even before the OGT testers get them
