Cloudy skies

Post by whattashot »

Is it really necessary to make every tournament with cloudy - overcast skies? Can't see the freakin' wind meter direction! Tried changing settings for brightness and contrast..no help.

here ya go read this post and make yourself and autoexec.exe file and you can change the colors on the wind, the meter up and down along
with the tracer color and you will no longer run into this issue.

as long as the settings are there they will be used in the tourneys so that is the best answer for your rant.

if you would like here is mine on my mega you can download it and follow the instructions in the post above on where to put it in your steam file
folder.

Thank you. That should help. As long as I'm on a rant. This was not (in my opinion) a good venue for Hazard 9, however, that said, there are some players playing at miracle levels in this game. I must have had 20 holes in the last 36 where I could not hit in to a hazard to save my life. Plus, in rd 3, with Normal/Hard conditions, I continually tried to hit short of the green in anticipation of the hard greens running like crazy. To my dismay, the ball would take a 30 ft bounce on to the green and then STOP. Very frustrating. Ben playing for 6 months, and still can't figure out how some of these guys hold the green. Tried pitch and run...depends on the COURSE, not the conditions. Tried putting the blue dot up as high as will go and trying to drop the ball on the green. Still runs 12 yards on NORMAL (NOT) greens. I run the BLI around the green ahead of time to see the breaks. Little teeny weeny white line is all that shows from the BLI. Get to the green and I have a putt that breaks 5 grids. Unreal. Rant over.

you are not always going to like all the sets you find in the tourneys. i was looking at the leaderboard and it seems
most of the regular leaders are scoring ok at it, and to be honest i don't really think any of the courses are bad venue's for the hazard tourney
it is all in what you make of it. as for the blue dot when putting i have no idea in what you are speaking about must have something to do with the confusion stick as i call it the (bli) which i have no idea on how it works as i have always and only use the grid to line up my putts. and to be honest you are just a short timer with 6 months in as most of the top players have been playing this game for years so it may take you some more time to work yourself up into the upper tier of players. i got close to 10k hours in and been playing for 5+ years and i have not made it any further then the top 50.
just keep plugging away with a ton of play you will learn all the tricks, and just think of all the fun and frustration you will go through.
have a great day and good luck in the rest of your tourney's.

I appreciate your encouragement. That said, I don't give a hang what my score is, at least not until I can hit the shot consistently, and know exactly what its going to do, if I do everything I'm supposed to. I know scoring will take time. Today, I was playing a tourney round, and I had a 162 yard shot, after calculating the wind, lie, etc. I had a 22% power loss in the rough. The caddie gave me a 9 iron. I kept going up a club until the 22% could be absorbed the default of the club. I ended up hitting a 5 iron (195 yards default). I hit it 7 dots, and square on the 6 o'clock. The ball carried 122 yards. What? It was just ordinary rough, no weeds or other stuff. A 5 iron with 1 o'clock on the top and 6 o'clock on the bottom should go more than 122 yards. Even with a 22% power loss. That is very frustrating, and that kind of thing happens often in this game. What no one wants to say is...why?

ok first off, math and this game. the math is off for this game as far as i can tell all the calculating in the world will not change that.
on the shot you you posted about i would have hit the 7 wood and did my figuring from the smaller penalty with that club.
i myself play by the seat of my pants and am a firm believer in think long think wrong. not trying to be a smart azz here but maybe you are over thinking your shots. like i said it takes time and a lot of play to get the feel for this game.

Thank you for that sir. The first time I've heard that the math may not be accurate. I will certainly take your advice! Thank you, again.
