its time to discuss some change

Post by jspirate »

A scramble penalty for going into the water is not really new, I get that.

Lets do something different. Can we turn it off for scrambles?

There are two shots and it just doesn't represent the true nature of a scramble.

Scott,

Any PGLS admin can remove that penalty after the round is finished. Just ask.
Most of these kinds of "bugs" in the game are common place. I think we've relied on the honor system to fix most of these as needed.

The Pair9 in particular has gotten very competitive lately. Don't feel you have to give away a shot due to a bug in the game.

The flip side of that coin is if you get a free "do-over" because the game froze at entering the water, call a penalty on yourself at the end of the round. Coach & I have had to do that a few times.

I've done it in the past, but got away from doing it because it seems like it happens just about every week.

The dynamic of a scramble doesn't give you that big of an advantage and just doesn't impact things like it does in an alt shot.

Anyway, like I said its nothing new... just venting because I am tired of it.

Penalty strokes are built into PG and if one occurs the data is sent to PGLS.

As John said it is easy enough to request removal of them and I'm sure everyone is acutely aware of how frequently they occur in PG.

When a ball goes into water and you dont get a post screen, sometimes its the ball is still dropping(some deep lakes) and waiting a few minutes for the post screen sometimes works.....its a pity the devs didnt add a drop key to activate the post screen.......

What's frustrating to me is you can have two or three shots that need a drop and 2 will let you drop and one won't. Would be nice if they were consistent.

Agree, but this is hard wired into the game. I don't see a fix coming in our future.

As admins we try to fix-patch these as best we can on a case per case basis.

Maybe what's being missed here is that we have a good golf game (not great, with flaws, lots of courses), and a website platform (PGLS) that lets us interact in multi-player like no other golf game that currently exists (2K & EA Sports multi-play are so far behind. A 20 yr old game like Links 2003 has better online play).

The friends that I've made playing online here are far more important to me than the flaws of the PG game. Shout out to those on my friends list. :drinks:

I agree, Jim - this is a great game - the positives far outweigh the few negatives which I am happy to accept - and I, too, have made great friends through this game!
