Using hard fairways on tree lined couses makes it a game of chance with no "skill' involved or hitting the snap as the ball will bounce anywhere usually into the trees with no reasonable second shot. Then to hide pins behind bunkers etc on normal 12 stimp greens is just dumb. One of the setters seems to think it is a good idea to do this ( you know who you are ) I myself will not play such a course as all it needs to play well is luck!

Quite obvious that many players in this tourney are not following the rule of "hit the club" you are given, not that I really give a sh%^but it definitely makes you manufacture shots not normally required in regular games

I've never played in this tourney, and one reason is that I think I'm too habituated into following a certain process to plan each shot, which includes selecting a different club as needed. I'd probably change club without realizing I'd done it, or even if I catch myself before I take the shot, I don't know how (or if there's a way) to revert to the caddy's suggestion.

I have been known to automatically change the club but I also, when I play the tournaments, I forget to look at what the caddy suggested especially with chips that should have been a pitch. Secret, this tournament, is to stay out of the rough. The caddy will give you the wrong club 80% of the time and only about 10% of the time if you are on the fairway. On the rough shots I just take a full 120% swing and hope for the distance I need.

one way to reset caddie suggestion would be to close/resume game..........
