The pin positions are selected for each hole by number in the API. This option isn't available outside of the API where you just get Easy, Medium or Hard pins.
As an example Trapmont has 9 available pin positions on each hole. Therefore it is impossible to decide whether the pin positions used are actually Easy, Medium or Hard as a collective. In the API this setting is ignored.
Really we should be setting the Pins: entry on the Course / Conditions page to "Random".

Re: Is PGLS goin to offer only destructive Golf Settings?
Hi All
In the TRTCC I have told my members that the pins will always be set in the API as medium, but I actually choose the pins from all available, hoping to set a nice mix of hard to easy for each round.
Some of the pin positions set lately have been a bit ridiculous, but at the end of the day you can only choose the pin placements that the designer gives you. I have just been playing PGA 18 round 2 and that pin on 13 is absolutely unrealistic, there is no way a pin would be positioned in such a place in the real game. I don't get as much time to play as I would like, and that hole has just ruined a very good round. I will not bother completing this tournament now, it's difficult enough playing RTSM, without these unrealistic situations.

Yes may i add i appreciate everything the Admin,s do to make this site work awesome job setting all the tournies week to week, alot of variety and contrast with the courses and conditions, some tuff, some easy but the level of enjoyment is for me anyway, off the chart. So i may kind of complain but not in the aspect of sounding unappreciative just throwing my two cents in is all, So keep up the good work guys. Thanks

When Selecting Pins . Each pin is selected individually, on Round one I tend to try to select central pins that would fall into the catagory as easy but try to drop in 1 or 2 more difficult pins. after selecting the pins theres a drop down menu with 3 choices Easy Medium and difficult, so round one if I have picked central pins I will also choose Medium. But there is no guarantee that all the pins are easy. Same for later rounds I'll look for pins near bunkers or water but might slip 1 or 2 easy pins but but because most fall into difficult areas I will choose difficult but dont take it that all are difficult. One more thing, If the conditions of the round is hard greens I choose not to pick pins just over a bunker I always try to allow room for the ball to run on landing

On Trapmont there are very few easy pins. The designer has chosen to create very wavy greens. When selecting easy pins for a round I will look for centrol pins but doesnt always mean they will be flat. However I did not set Trapmont this time but I can see that the setter has done is best to make the greens as fair as can be by using soft greens and fair stimps, but the greens are still very difficult

You have to be God to get it right for all. The saying goes you can't please all of the people all the time but if you please some of the people some of the time you are getting it right just enjoy your golf nice to hear all the comments. skip67

No wonder Greg Norman was good if he could get around that course under Par.

I also agree this too, but as an Admin your Target should be to find an "Average in the Set Up" for all. That means for Hacker like Tour Pro and not only for the "Specialist" of the Tour Pro's.Crusher wrote: Mon Dec 10, 2018 6:11 amI agree, skip67.skip67 wrote: Sun Dec 09, 2018 5:56 pm You have to be God to get it right for all.
