Re: biased tourneys
greens is spot on about the short, bout 75% of being able to shot low scores is all
in the around and on green area. the skills tourney will teach you the short game and a great learning tool.

Re: biased tourneys
All I'm saying is that this believe it or not is only a pc game not rl golf, it should be fun but for me it no longer is as being handicapped at plus 6 and play in midweek or seasiders tourneys, I don't get the benefit of my handicap and if I don't play I fall off the leaderboards. Where is the fun in that? Everyone likes to win sometimes don't they or are you happy to be losers to the top oldies?

Re: biased tourneys
Is it really winning if you have to rely on pro-sandbagging handicap system??? Play more, get better, move upto Tour pro to sharpen your eye, then move down for tourneys....

You still offer no solution ... what would you have them do?Merlin69 wrote: Sat Dec 22, 2018 10:08 am All I'm saying is that this believe it or not is only a pc game not rl golf, it should be fun but for me it no longer is as being handicapped at plus 6 and play in midweek or seasiders tourneys, I don't get the benefit of my handicap and if I don't play I fall off the leaderboards. Re: biased tourneys
Merlin, you have been improving steadily. This last week, your power ranking was 3 shots a round better than when you first started, so you have closed effectively 12 shots per comp (9 holes rounds) on the top players in about 10 weeks. You are now only 3.5 shots per round off the average player, can you become "the average player"? I call that good progress, start breaking par then move to Amateur, not always about winning, you should enjoy getting better and set realistic landmarks to achieve? That way you may well enjoy the game again.
Personally, my goals now are to try to get the perfect round, all FIR, all GIR 1 putt per green and all birdies and eagles from Champ tees, that's how I stay enjoying the game. Damn difficult one to achieve and normally fail by missing the 1st fairway, but there's always the next round!!

The scores may be unrealistic, or even a joke but heyho, that's what we got.
Play well and enjoy your game everyone!
btw, not a game for snowflakes.

Re: biased tourneys
Thanks to all who have contributed so far to this thread, we all at sometime or other feel that we are not going anywhere and think about quitting then suddenly a few things click into place and make some improvement. Its good to read so many positive positive posts from players who have been at it for so long and are reaping the benefits. Stay with it Merlin, your game is already showing signs of improvement, theres no quick fix I'm afraid, Like all PC games there are some that will tern to cheat programmes to get to the top, but hey that we not give you lasting joy sooner or later you will get bored with the knowledge that the only one you cheat is yourself. Make your goal to continually beating someone that is on the same lvl as yourself and when you have succeeded in that move on to someone else. keep playing and enjoy

Re: biased tourneys
Well said Seasider and a lot of us who have played this game and others thru the years know how much work it takes to get good at PC golf. I also think that most of us who have are also of the older generation and understand that and this is not a game that you just pick up and become top dog overnight. I play all the swings but and that is how I get my enjoyment after many years of clicking but every swing has its nuances and with 3C it takes lots of practice to hit 6 o'clock just as its just as hard to master the timing of MS and to get the rhythm of RTS. New players just have to understand learning this game is lots of work.

Re: biased tourneys
Merlin,
I started playing tourneys earlier this summer...June or July, which doesn't make me an "ole timer"despite my age. But I tied with
Texasaces for the win in the Mid Week Challenge, which means it's not bias towards ole timers...wouldn't you agree.

Re: biased tourneys
The solution to this problem is not how many hours people put into this 'game' in order to top the leaderboards but allow the handicap system to work properly in all tournaments not just a few; if you are are a 'top' player with a minus handicap you shouldn't be frightened to play against a 'hacker' with a plus handicap or are you?
Re: biased tourneys
FRIGHTENED? Merlin its an online game for fun, why would anyone be frightened to play anyone, its not life and death, you aren't playing for anything thats going to change your life, and you certainly aren't going to win money at it, its simply meant for fun. As far as handicaps on every tour WHY? Not every tournament in real golf is handicapped.
