i thought i would post some thoughts about this MOP.
Great idea who ever thought it up i got more enjoyment while playing these matches
this past month they just about any other play i had. was fun getting together with folks i have never played with
and shoot a round and see how they play. i did not care much for the handicap but after a little thought these folks learning
need to get a bump every now and again to help them along. after all it is just a game.
i would almost bet as this grows it will only get much better.
what do you others think of this MOP?
thanks much

Re: League Tables Matches
Thanks for that Dave
I had this MOP when I used to run WGTLS for WGT. However it wasn't handicapped and losses / ties had to be recorded manually
To be honest I wasn't even sure the MOP would even work in PG until myself and Gordy (TexasACES) tested it.

Re: League Tables Matches
To be honest I wasn't looking forward to playing the same course with the same conditions five times in a month, and was intending to drop out after the first month. However, having spread out my matches over the four weeks I found it very enjoyable and, as Dave said, playing different players who I'd not played before was a pleasure and extremely interesting. I also think that using handicaps is a good thing, as it gives the perhaps not so skilled players a fighting chance of claiming a prized scalp or two, and provides valuable encouragement for them in the process, whilst possibly motivating the better players to do well in order to avoid being one of those scalps!
So I intend to continue participating in the Matchplay Leagues as I think it enhances the whole 'PGLS Experience', and I would recommend other players to join this worthwhile event if they haven't already done so!

Re: League Tables Matches
I totally agree with everything Bob and Dave said in their posts. However i would like to see the handicaps reduced to 3/4 or 4/5 as in most real golf clubs for match play.
Re: League Tables Matches
What bob said...I definitely felt quite discouraged after several rounds of playing the same course for a month, but after fighting against all these little limitations, it is really becoming kind of a game of its own, knowing the course and making the best out of it! Even if you don`t like Crater Lakes or something like that :D Definitely looking forward to more fun challenges and trying not to judge course creations too much.
