A heads up for everyone.
With effect from end of this Season (events finishing 5th December), the way we decide which players will be "promoted" or given the opportunity to go down a Tier will be reverting to the previous method used. The changes will take place on Thursday 6th December with new levels in effect for the new Season starting on Friday 7th December.
For those who have joined in the last few months and for everyone else too, an explanation follows:
The scores from the weekly PGA9, PGA 18 and the monthly Open are taken over a month (all events which start in a Calendar month).
Your scores are compared to all those in your Tier only. Ignoring the lowest 10% and highest 10% average scores to account for anomalies, the rest are used to form a Tier average score for the month. If your average is more than 7.5% lower than the Tier average, you will be "promoted" and if your average is more than 7.5% higher than the Tier average, you have the choice of moving down a Tier. The 7.5% equates roughly to 5 shots per 18 hole round. So if you are averaging more than 5 shots per round better than your average fellow Tier players, it's time to move on up!
The other way you may be moved up a Tier is if your average score for the month is better than 80% of the Tier above's average. If either of the parameters are met, you will be moved upwards.
This addition to the rules for Tier movement ensures that players out scoring the vast majority of the Tier above get moved to play alongside those their scores merit and reduces the chance for anomalies to occur as they did in Feb 19 which led to no automatic promotions from Amateur to Pro.
This is a fairer way to look at those people playing much better than the Tier average and to keep competition fairer as this compares player to player and not player to course. These players will move up to hone their skills at a higher level. Using the current method with the ultra low scores for events this month, there could quite easily be a lot of players averaging under 64 and had an enforced Tier move, perhaps not warranted in a normal scoring month.
A table will be published each month for all to see the numbers.
PLAYERS THAT HAVE NOT PLAYED A TOTAL OF 4 QUALIFYING ROUNDS IN THE MONTH WILL NOT BE MOVED EITHER UP OR DOWN AND THEIR SCORES WILL NOT COUNT TOWARDS THE AVERAGES
Hope that makes sense, any questions..fire away.
Andy

Monthly Player Tier Movements
The scores may be unrealistic, or even a joke but heyho, that's what we got.
Play well and enjoy your game everyone!
btw, not a game for snowflakes.

Re: Monthly Player Tier Movements
Thanks for keeping this going. I thought that Stableford scores were also used somehow, Am I mistaken? Perhaps that is just for OOM?
Thanks again,

Stableford is just order of merit/Season points Perc.

Re: Monthly Player Tier Movements
Still not seeing much movement end of each month. It seems strange to me that Amatuer players who constantly out score Tour Pros each month find themselves remaining at the same level unless to request a move to the next lvl. thankfully some players have done that but still there are players quite happy to remain at the same lvl for whatever reason.
