The first round has finished and after some great participation, here's a snapshot of the state of play:

Division 1:

Affo holds a 2pt lead courtesy of 1 of only 2 Eagles on the tough Par 5 hole. But after him, 10 players are separated by 1pt on a round which saw no one go under -4 and everyone in the Division post a score. Who can break out of the pack in Round 2? Bowhunter is a little off the pace but only to be expected in the week he made TP.

Division 2:

14 out of 15 posted a score and Haesy007 holds an early advantage with an excellent -4 round with no bogies. bpatrick4489 comes next 1 ahead of a group of 6 players on 16pts. The next 5 players are only actually 2pts of promotion spots even sat in jt 10th place.

Division 3:

A 4 way tie at the top and only 2pts separating the top 10. strinb, roande47, Stozza and lilpoison are the early pace setters and 13 out of the 15 posted scores this period.

Division 4:

A bit more space at the top where charlieb posted 6 birdies in his round of -4, 1 ahead of rd.weaver who in turn has 1pt in hand on DrDeath. Agaggle of 8 players within 2pts of him will keep the top 3 on their toes. Again, 14 out of 15 played.

Division 5:

SimChars1968 posted an excellent -4 to take a stranglehold on this Division early doors. He's 3 ahead of 4 players with the rest close behind where 12 out of the 15 players scored.

Feeders:

Unexpected number of entries sees ergo76prop and jspirate holding top spot after more -4 rounds. 3 sit 1pt behind ready for a slip up by one of the front 2 players.

192 birdies in total and just the 2 eagles with Division 3 having the best average score (of players posting a score) at 15.38pts. Division 1 by comparison saw an average of 15 dead.

Off to the dizzy heights of Alpine Crossing for round 2 where the winds have got up a tiny bit more meaning a bit quicker greens...time to step up and post as many points as possible....you only got 1 chance.

Using the Power ratings as at 27th February to benchmark the Period 1 performances, here's how you performed in Period 1 compared to your expected score based on previous 3 months scoring:

Another Division which had players performing better than expected, could be a tough one to get out of if this continues. 7 players shot 2pts better than expected!

A mixed bag as could be expected with all levels of player joining in. Golferdee is a newer improving player but some impressive performances from others.

How will Period 2's scores hold up, altitude golf is another things with constant adjustments needed.

Period 2 complete and again a great turnout, just 1 down on Period 1! The Divisions are taking shape but no one is out of anything yet with 3 rounds to play.

Division 1:

Affo and Step have upped the anti with the best rounds of the period, but it only takes an off day for either or both for them to be caught. Cubbies and bobfletch lead the rest which are still quite bunched up. Lawnbowlr and BOWHUNTER have a bit of work to do, the latter not around this period.

Division 2:

Haesy007 followed up his Division leading 1st period score repeating the feat and now heads the rest by 3. 5 players within a shot of each other looking for promotion spots with another 4 players in contention still. At present it looks as though Stoney and IlCivEng are slugging it out to avoid the final drop position.

Division 3:

This Division saw the best 2 rounds of the period after the usual twosome, 2 great hauls of 20pts. It leaves Stozza and Duval59 with a bit of daylight ahead of the pack. Can Blaukraut pull himself out of the bottom 4 over the next 3 periods? Who will replace him there?

Division 4:

Cherlieb holds onto his lead and in fact increases it to 2 shots after rd.weaver struggled in the altitude and dropped away. Perculator and Flyer01 are the closest challengers but again, the rest are all still involved. At the other end, roadrunner and skip67 faired better this round to give them chances to evade the drop to Div 5.

Division 5:

SimChars and robvalkyrie swapped scores from Period 1 and now both hold a good 3pt lead over the rest with the next 5 looking for promotion spots. With 3 players not turning up so far, only 1 drop place to fill and norsiwel and grizzly are currently locked in battle to not be that person.

Feeder:

As stated in another post, at least 4 will be promoted (currently will be 7 due to no shows in Div 5), but the next 15 slots after them will enter Division 6. The Tour Pros have turned up and fill the promotion spots currently with only jspirate suffering a bad day at the office but still lots to play for.

Good luck at Amana, course is set up to give a chance to go low but pins are tucked on some holes and a tricky wind is blowing!!

Period 3 complete and over 90 posting a score again which keeps things interesting. 2 to go. Scoring was overall a little better than period 1 and 2:

Period 1 ave: 14
Period 2 ave: 14.08
Period 3 ave: 15.33

Though only 2 scores in the 20s compared to 3 in Period 2, so although scoring was better, not so many shooting really low.

Low round of this Period goes to RIDDLER, a stunning 22pts (so shot a 28!) who managed to find the tucked pins and battled the stronger breeze better than the rest.

Division 1:

Affo strengthens his hold at the top after Step had an average day which has enabled Riddler (with his round best) to jump from 6th to 3rd....podium finish in his sights with 2 rounds to go. Cubbies and bobfletch are only 1 behind after matching scores but they have a little daylight ahead of NIBNOB. The bottom 4 remained the same but Lawnbowlr had the best round out the to give him a chance of avoiding relegation. Topflight managed to drag himself away from the dropzone with a tied 3rd best for the Division.

Division 2:

Haesy007 still leads but his advantage is cut to 1 shot by Boss302-1969 who shot a Division best 19pts (along with TBone) to move himself 3 clear of TBone who has gone up from 9th to 3rd with that good round. He is tied with sk1pmcgee and terbal in a great scrap for the promotion spots. LinksPro didn't manage to post a score so now sits in the 4th relegation spot, but 2 good rounds could see him catch the next player.

Division 3:

Tight at the top with 5 players within 2 shots. After Stozza failed to post a score, the pre round leader has dropped to 11th to be replaced at the top by Duval59. Division high was posted by RandyG which pulled him up from tied 5th to tied 2nd alongside Roande47 who posted his 3rd 17pt round, Mr Consistency! (Side note, only 2 other players have scored all 3 rounds the same - Biffa and moose63). At the other end, no show from bbbuckshot1 leaves him looking at relegation now.

Division 4:

charlieb has this Division under control after another Division topping score of 18 (also shot by Coach098) and now leads by 5. The pack behind is tight with only 4pts separating the next 8 players, all to play for! LES1959 currently has a slight advantage to lie 2nd with 4 players on 47pts behind him waiting for a slip up. roadrunner531 sits a little off the pace in the 4th relegation spot, but a no show from any above him could lead to Division survival.

Division 5:

Still waiting for our first Eagle in this Division, but SimChars1968 has the Division under control with a Division best 16pts to extend his lead to 6pts over robvalkyrie who didn't fair so well this round, but still holds 2nd by 1pt from a trio of players with another 2 just 1pt behind them. All to play for here. norsiwel and grizzly06 show by posting a score each round can keep you out of drop trouble, can they both survive!

Feeder:

The scramble for Feeder Division honours is fierce. ergo76prop currently holds a 2pt lead after pre round leader JMK59 had a not so good day at the course. Wolle had a Division best 19pts to move him from 5th to 2nd level on pts with Lefty48 and the aforementioned JMK but has more birdies. 15 players have posted a score in each round, so they hold the top 15 spots, though the others are not far behind.

Off to Aronimink and the back 9. The grass has been allowed to grow so slower greens and with a lighter breeze, scoring could be good this Period. However, the greenkeeper has tucked some of the pins away into tight corners!!

and so we move onto the final Period of the month....what occurred in Period 4?

98 scores posted, so a consistent amount (100/98/92/98), appreciate the time everyone is taking to post scores, only works well with good participation.

A tougher day out there with top score being only -5 worth 30 pts scored by only 4 people, yet the highest score was only 50, not the highest we've had.

Division 1:

Affo and Step seem to have the top 2 spots sealed bar a bad round or no show after they both shot Period bests of 20pts, but the scrap for the remaining podium spot is on. Riddler was sat there after Period 3 but he was overtaken by bobfletch with a great 19pt score. He now sits 2 ahead of Riddler and cubbies645. The battle to avoid relegation is on too, with 5 players within 3pts of the zone, scoops100 is fighting back after a solid 19pts, and Blackcat and JoeBradley have got sucked in after posting the Division lowest for this Period, who will survive?

Division 2:

Haesy maintained his top position with a Division high 19pts, now 3 ahead of 2nd (boss302-1969) and 7 clear of promotion cut off. 4 players are within 2pts trying to claim the probable 2 promotion spots left. At the other end, Stoney failed to score which give LinksPro a lifeline to stay up after missing Period 3 himself, the rest look safe for another month.

Division 3:

14 players out 15 posted a score to keep things interesting though the bottom 3 look doomed to life in Division 4 in April. Milehigh posted the Division best this time with a stunning 19pts pulling himself to mid table and an outside chance of a sniff at promotion, but a few people will have to have a bad day for that to happen. Sitting on top is roande thanks to the birdie tiebreaker, he caught Duval59 and the pair sit 3pts ahead. RandyG looks ok in 3rd but 4th to 8th is separated by 3pts, all to play for!

Division 4:

charlieb posted a solid 16pts to stay 5 ahead of Flyer01 who shot the Division high of 17pts. He 1pt ahead of a trio of players and with Coach only a point behind them, good scores are going to be needed to claim a promotion place. Parman slips into the bottom after failing to post a score but is only 2 behind roadrunner, between these 2 for the last relegation spot assuming everyone else plays!

Division 5:

Smaller turnout here this time with only 8 playing, but SimChars doesn't care, he's 4 ahead at the top and Just Jolly (Division high of 16pts) looks favourite to join him in Division 4 in April. It then looks like 2 from the next 3 unless bo.leto finds a stormer of a round!

Feeder:

The other 2 20pts scores fell in the Feeder with the top 2 of ergo76prop and Wolle using the scores to go 1st and 2nd. Lefty looks good in 3rd but tight after that with a number of players till capable of going up, depends who posts scores!

In a change to the original course, Augusta is labelled as a Beta so couldn't be selected...we're off to Aloe Ridge instead where the breeze is a bit lighter which ahs dried the greens out to 13 stimp.

As per pm just sent, in case you don't read those, here is the message:

Hi all,

One day to go to post that last round and help get a better Cup draw (if not in contention for promotion or safe from relegation).

In Div 1, Step has set me a score of 35 to win the league. At the other end, can Lawnbowlr pull off a remarkable 27 to send JoeBradley down instead? (edit: it was late...no he can't as 4 go down not 3!)

In Div 2, TBone and moose63 need to outscore each other and post a 32 to edge out Cestrian or both shoot 30 and get promoted as they will have more birdies than sk1pmcgee. Terbal is lurking though not sure he's going to get a chance to play and will suffer relegation in this well fought Division.

Div 3 is only waiting for Stozza to play...he missed Period 3 and if he doesn't post a score, he will go down, but if he does, the odds are that bbbuckshot will drop instead.

Div 4 is decided whether the bottom 3 play or not with parman managing to miss a round and survive. Tight at the sharp end too with 3 players on 80pts, need to consult the rules committee!

Div 5 sees stevemel waiting to see if POGO posts a score, which will decide who goes up, the non players at the bottom will have to start again from the Feeder league if they wish to join in.

The Feeder league may see as many as 7 promoted with JohnMichael currently sat in the last spot, but UK4LifeBBN could well go past him and alanr54nc could play a blinder to get in the mix.

There will be more Divisions in April with the rest of the Feeder league broken into groups of 15 with the remainder making up the new Feeder league. The number of leagues will no doubt drop a few as it settles down into players interested and those not.
