The Open

Post by Greensboronclion »

On number 8 I got a 5 ft putt and hit my normal putt and it goes down then by a stroke of magic it pops out of the hole and 10 feet behind where I was. I made the putt but that was ridiculous. So on 13 I got a 24 inch putt and the hole is cut on the side of a hill for some reason and hit my putt just enough speed and it boomerangs 12 feet away. I guess this course didn't get a lot of testing as that shouldn't happen but then again we should not cut pins on sides of hills but hey what do I know. Anyway enjoy as I am done with it.

Wow I said I had problems but I didn't expect that reaction. Sorry but that's totally uncalled for and no matter what we need to keep the forum clean and be respectful of others and that language doesn't fit the bill.

Played 3 rounds so far, with a partner, without any issues (except this is one mother of a course). If anyone has had an issue, like Greensboronclion, could you please post here.

If I am correct the ball popping out of the hole into the air was an issue we have had with multiple courses and it seemed it was on a lot of the older courses. It hasn't happened to me in a while but I remember it happening many times before. It is a beast of a course and in no way was my post meant to discourage anyone from playing it as the Designer did a great job and the issue is more a widespread problem in older courses than anything imo. The toughness of the course is reflected on the scoreboard.

This Course was released some time back. never been any problems before. I dont think personally that these faults are generated by the course. Similar faults are being recorded by so many courses recently, I'm pretty sure that the problem is more to do with the poor state of the game at the moment.

As the admin who tries to choose the best course posible as a substitute for the many courses missing form PG, it does wear you down after a while.

So if anyone wants to step up and take over choosing courses then be my guest.

You and the rest of you who do it have a thankless job and you will never please all. I would offer to help but going to be travelling an lot right now as I am retired and just wanting to enjoy life right now and will be gone for a month starting Thursday. Your choice was a good choice but I am beginning to believe your right that the state of the game in general is more the problem as I cant remember the last time it had a meaningful patch for fixes. I sure wish we the community had a hard copy of the game so we could fix and improve like we did at Links 2003 but that wont happen. Thanks for all your efforts and again not a bad course choice.
