Absolutely! If Tour Pro players really wanted a major challenge at this level then eliminating Dots, Grid and ony using BLI would be a huge score changer on the leaderboards. I super rely on the grids and BLI right now. Taking away the grid would really make my scores higher in a hurry.

Re: Use of Controllers in PGLS tournies
I'm an RTSM player and no longer play in any of the tournaments because the scores put up by 3C players are beyond ridiculosis. When I look at the control methods there is a reason why about 30 players use 3C at the Tour Pro level at PGA 18 and only one player who uses RTSM at the Tour Pro level. I play at the Pro level and I love the challenge of breaking par. I have been using RTSM since it's introduction and I still marvel at the subtle aspects and the feel it provides. The fact that swing path and tempo is required in a RTSM swing replicates what is required in a real golf swing. Like a real golf swing there are moving parts and unlike the 3C meter which fills in at EXACT same speed you never have the same speed backswing and downswing with RTSM just like a real golf swing.
Frankly, when you are scoring -58 using 3C at Tour Pro it must get boring. I took a screenshot of one PGLS leaderboard where the winner of the tourney shot -74 over four rounds using 3C at the Tour Pro level. Second place, also a 3C player shot -40. I understand that controllers were banned because there were some player assists or some form of cheating so does that mean that the people using controllers were also scoring -58 or better?
On You Tube I have seen videos of guys using 3C with the dots on the meter. It is bad enough that they already have a meter that tells them EXACTLY how to time their next click but dots too? When someone says that missing the snap by even a little can cause a missed shot, they are missing the point. Golf is not a reaction game A golf swing is about tempo and consistency. In 3C you have a meter that fills in at the SAME speed every swing and you react to that by clicking. Wouldn't the pros love to take their Trackman on the course with them so they see the readouts of every shot and adjust accordingly.
I'm sure I'll get a lot of flak for my comments but the reason why I bought JNPG was their claim that it was the next generation golf game. The next generation golf game should not have a control method that I was using for Amiga Golf. I am an avid golfer and don't have the room or money for a simulator so I want a golf game that has a swing that at least tries to replicate elements of a real golf swing and not some 30 year arcade swing. Earlier this year I saw a review of Links 2000 where it referred to 3C as a bit long in the tooth and that was 19 years ago!
If 3C players can score -58, why the issue of allowing controllers for tournaments?

Congrats to the Controller users. It's obvious by the vote that you will all be able to use them again. I believe in democracy and I accept the majority vote.
Have fun and see you on the leaderboards again!

your wrong there Slouis the meter on 3C dose not move at the same speed. Now it seems to vary speed on every hole and certainly on different courses.

@slouis
Not going to disagree with you at all apart from the point terbal just made above, the meter does seem to move at different speeds, not great changes, but enough that you can't shut your eyes and count and be certain of hitting the ding. Odd but true and also for different clubs I find, but maybe just me.
But....this is a game and each can enjoy it with the method they choose. Most don't worry about leaderboards, you could say what's the point in having them in that case....but behind all these claims, people still check them to see how they've done. Maybe they ignore the top 10 and look for a PB or beating a friend but it you can't deal with a few players shooting low scores, stop looking. I still enjoy the challenge, the perfect round has not been achieved yet and they is always a player or 2 who play well in an event and post good scores to chase (that's the way I like to play, chase rather than set).
I believe any future golf games will include 3C...they need to, to make sure they sell enough, the new market (PC wise) is not probably big enough to not include it (supposition, not facts).
More bodies on the leaderboards it seems, with the poll, can only be a good thing, those worried about any chance of underhandedness, everyone's score are monitored for irregularities...not just controllers ;)

The scores may be unrealistic, or even a joke but heyho, that's what we got.

Are you serious? So if someone new just happens to post a good score ahead of you, you smell a rat? I have only started to play in tournaments a month or so ago and see the same 2 or 3 players at the top, tournament after tournament... Would you really be that upset if you did not come in first place.. maybe every once in a while??Affo wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 11:44 am If someone suddenly starts beating myself, NIBNOB, cubbies to name just 3, we might smell a rat and then and only then it can be looked into. Until such an event occurs, just carry on playing looking at your personal "frenemies" on the leaderboards (if you still look at them) and all is good in the world.

Re: Use of Controllers in PGLS tournies
so much to say but will just leave it alone. this thread is going places it never should have
maybe it is time to shut it down and reinstate the controllers and be done with it.

Re: Use of Controllers in PGLS tournies
Think you've gone a bit too literal there. As per another post (trying reading further), everyone's scores are obviously recorded, I was just stating an example that IF anyone were to suddenly shoot amazing scores with no history, or gone from average to amazing, then obviously the scores are just shall we say, kept an eye on for the integrity of all, not just myself. Jees, some people.holy goat wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 11:08 amAre you serious? So if someone new just happens to post a good score ahead of you, you smell a rat? I really couldn't give a monkeys if i'm not at the top, in fact I like to congratulate people when they have scored very well in an event, I just try to be at the top.....it's called competing..some like to, some play for fun, but I don't cry cheat if i'm not.

While it's fairly civil Dave, discussion is better than silence all round.

Re: Use of Controllers in PGLS tournies
As a result of the Poll the use of Controllers in all PGLS tournies will now be allowed with immediate affect. This does include the Country Clubs.
A breakdown of the swing types as shown already on the PGA 18 leaderboard page will be extended to include PGA 9, Stableford 9, PG Classics and PGLS Open.
