In the 18 hole tournaments, can you play front 9 holes in the morning, then exit the game, turn off the computer, then go run some errands, coming back later that afternoon (or maybe even the next day), and finish the tournament playing the back nine?

To clarify what Rick stated above, yes always end the round when you are addressing the ball and not in mid-air.

Ending a round mid-air will incur a penalty.
